I'm going through the same thing with my g-g-grandfather "Herbert Daignault", who came to Vermont in the 1860s. It's impossible (so far) to tie him to anyone specific in Quebec. His wife's name is little help, either.

I'll watch for JB and Marie Charlotte in my searches.
