Hi I got a huge amount of information about Daines in UK about 9-10 years ago when I joined a genealogy soceity I went through St Catherines Index and collect as much information as I could on Daines.
But these day's it is easier just go to http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl on the internet select births in this case put Daines in the surname box and Whitehead in mothers maiden name.
Just a note about 1912 onwards mothers maiden name was added
to the birth certificate.
