Classification: Query
Surnames: DALEY, CAVANAGH, KAVANGH, MONAGHAN, WALSH
I have a letter dated 1855 from a Lawrence Daley in Ireland to his sister, Catherine Daley Cavanah, who lived in St. Lawrence Co., New York. The place names he mentions are Athboy, ShanRo, Curramore, Ballivor, and Dublin. I have yet to locate Shanro (where he writes from). Has anyone ever heard of this place? He mentions his second wife, Ann Walsh, from Athboy. They had three children in 1855 (Mat, John, and Biddy) and had been married 8 years. Lawrence mentions a sister, Julia(Judy), and a brother, Patrick. Patrick was working in Dublin in 1851. Lawrence also mentions a daughter, Mary. This must be from a previous marriage as she is 'at service' and wishes to go to America. It is a sad letter as it refers to the famine and all those who have gone to their graves since Catherine left. Other names in the letter are: Kavanagh, Cavanagh, Monaghan. Any help locating these families/places would be appreciated. Thanks.
