Both children to Raymond Dallaire and Josephte(Josette)Goyer dit Belisle from Renfrew,Ontario. Emery was apparently born on the 19th of June 1855 and Henriette, born on the 3rd of January 1871. Renfrew records for 1855 are not available online therefore unable to verify and 1871 verified and nothing found for Henriette. Someone provided DAY and MONTH of birth for both children...can someone help in providing SOURCE. Thank you.

Hello, Your post dates back for some time however I'm hoping you are still connected with Ancestry re the Dallaire family. I am connected the the François Dalere and Pauline Sarazin line. My grandmother was Clarida Dallaire from the Renfrew area and her father was Hermas, her grandfather was Calixte and his father was Raymond Dallaire married to Josephte (Josette)Goyer dit Belisle. I've not been able to locate Raymond's marriage record or death date or place record. Would you have information to share with regards to Raymond born in Montebello in 1830? Hope to hear from you.

Audree I was pleased to read your post however, I have only one problem.... I need a snail mail address to which I can send you anything and everything. I am also wondering if you might have any photos to share with me? I am still working on questions you asked in previous post; My Great Uncle Delor may have information which may answer some of our questions. I sent Candice a load of information via snail mail and am hoping to hear from her soon that she received it. I am curious to know if it is the Lavoie side you are working on; as I have very little information and would be greatful for any that you could share. And as always if you run into a wall let me know I'll do whatever I can to help you over it.

Looking forward to your letter - I still need to finish up printing out the family info census pages on the Dallaires and Lavoies so I can get it sent to you to compare notes...sorry it's taking so long but I've been biting off more than I can chew lately;-)

I'm not really too interested in the Tardiff family other than solidifying the information concerning Marie's marriage to George and noting that a couple of their kids got married to each other.

Thanks for verifying that it was Ernest who was missing some fingers - that's who I thought it was.

Was it you who asked about which, Henry or Ernest, had fingers missing? I asked my dad, and he said it was Ernest...
More about that in letter, too!

Are you interested in Dallaire only, or Tardiff as well? I have extensive info on both; as well as "offshoot" lines, i.e. Hinds, Coupland/Copeland, Bouc/Buck.

Am trying to separate each branch into their own folders, so it'll be easier for me when I FINALLY get ready to post a website (someday; hopefully soon!)

Anyway, when you get the packet I'm sending, be sure to contact me again if there is anything else you need.

Thanks for the address - I'll send a letter this weekend. But in the meantime, just in case you get access to a computer again...

My first thought when I saw an 8 year old son listed as 'born in Michigan' named Bernard "Tardiff" with Mary and George Tardiff in 1930 was that he might be Henry and Cecelia Dallaire's son. Then I got really confused when I found Henry and Cecelia in the 1930 Flint census with their son Bernard Dallaire, age 8, who was listed as born in Wisconsin!!! Henry and Cecelia's other sons - Alfred, George and Dolor - are all listed as born in Michigan. I had heard the family gossip about Henry and Cecelia getting pregnant first and then married but didn't realize that there had ever been an attempt to stop them from marrying or raising Bernard as their own son.

Do you happen to know the year that Henry and Cecelia moved to Flint? Henry is listed as the owner of the home at 4112 Menton Avenue so I would imagine there would be a record of the purchase. Henry's sister, Celia, moved to Flint with her husband and children in 1926.

Just received your email; and I can help you solve a mystery!!!
First of all, you are correct in your assumption of George's middle name; it IS Leonard.
Next: you found on the 1930 census that George and Marie (Lavoie Dallaire Tardiff) have a son named Bernard who was 8 years old.
Bernard Alfred Dallaire was my Paternal grandfather!! Prepare for a "Dark Family Secret"!

Marie Lavoie married Alfred Dallaire. They had a son (my great grandfather Henry Louis Dallaire.
George Tardiff married Elizabeth Hinds. They had a daughter, who was my great grandmother, Ceceilia Elizabeth Josephine Tardiff.

Somewhere in the course of time, these two families met.
So did their son and daughter.

Some time after Henry Dallaire and Ceceilia Tardiff met, Ceceilia became pregnant with Henry's child.

Now comes the answer to the mystery:

Marie took Ceceilia to the Wisconsin Home for Unwed Mothers to give birth to the child. Bernard Alfred TARDIFF was born on July 14, 1921 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. ( I was my granpa Dallaire's 41st birthday present; we shared the same birthday!)

Marie went back to retrieve her stepdaughter, Ceceilia Tardiff, and baby Bernard (who was given his mother's maiden name) when Bernard was 2 weeks old. They travelled by train back to the Soo, where Marie and George told everyone that Bernard was their SON; when in fact, Bernard was their GRANDSON.

Years later, grandpa Dallaire had to go to Ontario, Canada, to receive permission from his father, Henry Dallaire, to take his rightful surname of Dallaire.

Grandpa Dallaire never talked about the past; as a matter of fact, when I started to do family history at age 13, he was ADAMANT about "leaving the past alone". I never understood why until years after his death. He felt very stigmatized and embarrassed by this fact; knowing my grandpa as well as I did, he must have thought it incest, though Henry and Ceceilia were not blood-related, but step-siblings.

Henry and Ceceilia did in fact marry when grandpa was a year old; but Marie continued to raise him as her own.

Hope this is helpful to you; I can provide dates, places and other info,; but I'm at a friend's house on her computer at the moment, and don't have my files with me.

He looks exactly like Rich's Uncle Pete(Peter R.TARDIFF) and the resemblance in his wedding picture is uncanny!!!!!

Yes, my Celia married James Paris.

I have been told that the photo is of Marie Lavoie Dallaire Tardiff and 'Mr. Tardiff' - it was a formal, studio portrait probably taken about the time of their marriage. I've included it as an attachment to this message.

Karen probably has much more info on the Tardiffs than I would since her great-grandmother was one. Gads - her grandfather was only 9 mos. older than my father (his cousin) yet there was less than a four year age difference in their mothers. No wonder we sometimes have so much trouble sorting out generations!

I don't have very much info on the Tardiff's other than the census records for George Tardiff and his second wife Marie Lavoie Dallaire Tardiff. I was really only interested in finding out the name of my great-grandmother's second husband who was identifed only as "Mr. Tardiff" on a copy of an old photograph that was given to me by an aunt.

My grandmother was the daughter of Marie Lavoie and her first husband Joseph Alfred Dallaire. My grandmother was named Celia (Dallaire) so it's very confusing that she ended up with a step-sister named Cecelia (Tardiff) who then also became her sister-in-law Cecelia (Tardiff) Dallaire. It is definitely Cecelia Tardiff who is listed on the 1920 census with her father George Tardiff - she is listed as age 15, as George's daughter with her birthplace given as Michigan and her father's birthplace as Michigan and mother's as Canada. My grandmother was 18 and she and both of her parents had been born in Canada (Quebec).

Three of Marie's other children are listed in the 1920 census (surname spelled Delair by the census enumerator) as George's step-children but I have not been able to locate my grandmother Celia Dallaire anywhere in the American Soo or on Drummond Island with her other brothers.

I have managed to find out a tiny bit more info since my original post to which Karen replied. I located Marie and George Tardiff in the census for the Soo in 1920 and 1930 and can send you jpg copies if you'd like. I think George's middle name was Leonard and the middle initial on the census returns looks like an "L" rather than "S".

As usual in genealogy research, locating more information has only created more mysteries. I still haven't been able to locate my grandmother Celia Dallaire in 1920 (George's daughter Cecile is living with he and Marie in 1920 though as well as three of my grandmother's siblings...her other brothers were living on Drummond Island). I also noticed on the 1930 census that George Tardifff and Marie Lavoie Dallaire Tardiff have a son named Bernard who is only 8 years old! George would have been 54 and Marie 51 when this child was born - not impossible, I know;-) This Bernard came as a complete surprise to me any way - I don't recall my father mentioning an uncle Bernard who was a few months younger than him. Do you have any idea what happened to this Bernard Tardiff who was born some time in 1922?

Marie LaVoie married Alfred Dallaire on 28 Aug,1888 in St-Agnes (Charlevoix county), Quebec, Canada; she was left widowed on4 Feb.,1919.
Marie moved to Sault St. Marie, Michigan with son Henry late in the year of 1919, There, she met George Tardiff, who himself had recently been widowed, and they married near the end of that same year.
There is a somewhat complicated situation regarding Marie's son Henry and George's daughter, Ceceilia; if you are interested, I will send details.
Information taken from Marie's death certificate states that she died at home;46091/2 S. Saginaw Street, Flint, michigan, Genesee county. Listed as widowed; date of death 20 Jan. 1945; age 73 years, 2 months, 26 days.
Birth date listed as 24 October,1871 in Malbie, Quebec,Canada. Marie was buried in Flint, Michigan at the New Cavalry Cemetary on Flushing Rd. Flint Michigan on 23 an. 1945. Gravesite is at lot #288,Grave #8, section #2.
The immediate cause of death was listed as Bronchial asthsma, which she had had for many years. Other contributory cause of importance was myocarditis with decompensation, which she had for approximately one year.

i live not too far from the cemetary where gr gr grandmother is laid to rest; maybe if you find yourself around Flint, you would like to meet and go there; and perhaps share more info!

Celia always told her grandchildren that she was raised on a sailboat that travelled among the lumber camps of the islands of Lake Huron and that her mother's family had been doing this sort of thing for a long time and her father had gotten into it through marriage.

Now this is not the same as my information

I have Pierre Allaire and Marie Thibault as his
parents (m. Feb 18th, 1783)

I think we are talking about the same person as
his brothers were Raymond and Francois.

I am related to Francois line.

The book is split into "C" ie for desendants of Charles ... our side of the family.
and "J" for decendants of Jean.

As per your lineage... Severe is item 187(c)... not the 188(c) I quoted you.
Siblings Justine, Julienne(1954), Julienne (1905),
Gilbert, Olivier, Fancois and Raymond.

From Severe ... married to Philomene Lamarch we go to item 362c

362c ... has
Marie 21-8-1896 Eganville Ont.. married Georges Ganeau
Severe 20-1-1902 Eganville .. married Marguerite Kelly (goes to 710c)
Joseph 21-4-1915 Cathedrale de Pembroke .. married Mary Kearney

710(c) has a list of children... but very scetchy. Their is only linage going from J-Ambroise and John. J
a Patrick is mentioned... but only his first name.

I have a Francois 18-7-1818 married to Pauline Sarrazin... item 97c
Their children are listed under 187c, etc.

So you have solved my Connundrum. The two main Ontario
branches of Dellaire/Dallaire come from

Who both had sons named Teleshare/Sevaire Dellaire!

Joseph-M was son of Francois who married 11/25/1754 Marie-Anne Delage, daughter of Charles Delage et Marie-Josephte Plante.

Francois was son of Jacques who married 5/29/1724 Angelique Cloutier, wido of Noel Gagnon and daughter of Charles Cloutier and Anne Thibault.

Jacques was son Charles who married 12/19/1691 Marie Bidet, daughter of Jacques Bidet et Francoise Desfosses.

Yes there is a connection. According to Violette Allaire's book Les Familles Allaire et Dallaire:

542c Augustin Allaire married 7/2/1883 Les Escoumins (Saguenay) Anais Maltais daughter of Jean Maltais and Josesphine Goudreault.

180C Augustin was son of Mars Allaire who married 7/17/1855 La Malbaie (Charlevoix) Julienne Goudreault daughter of Benoni Goudreault and Angele Degagne.

92C Mars was son of Francois Allaire who married 10/13/1829 at St-Ours(Richelieu) Judith Lataille daughter of Louis Lataille and Judith Saint-Martin.

39C Francois Allaire was son of Joseph Allaire who married 9/26/1796 St. Ours (Richelieu) Madeleine Cote daughter of Pierre Cote and Madeleine Parent.

10C Joseph Allaire was son of Francois-Marie Allaire who married 3/30/1761 St. Ours (Richelieu) Marie-Ursule Laboissiere, daughter of Jean-Baptiste Laboissiere and Ursule Rondeau.
