Charles S. Dally 1782-1845 m. Nancy Gamberton 1784-1879, served in the War of 1812 as a sergeant on Sandy Hook, NJ. He wrote several letters to his wife in Woodbridge, NJ [letters I have].
Abraham Dally 1796-1893 was the last survivor of the veterans of the War of 1812 in New York City. His father was a ship chandler and he worked in his father's store until he was 17. He joined the 11th Regt. Heavy Artillery of the NY Militia. He was stationed in Gavvsevoort, NY and fought at the battle of Lundy's Lane in Canada. In the Veterans Association of the War of 1812 he rose to the rank of Brigadier General. He was buried in the soldier's plot in Cypress Hill Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.
