CHESTERHILL: Mert R. Edwards, 73, of Chesterhill, Ohio (Morgan County) died on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 7:23 p.m. at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 11, 1938 in Cutler, Ohio to the late Isaac and Lilly Goins Dalton.

She was a homemaker and babysat for all the neighborhood kids who all loved her and her husband Allen.
She was a Baptist by faith.

She is survived by two daughters, Heather (Tracy) Copeland of Stockport, Ohio and Heidi (James) Smith of Chesterhill, Ohio; one step-son, Stephen M. Hardin of Canton, Ohio; two brothers, Harold "Bub" Dalton of Chesterhill, Ohio and Bill Dalton of Zanesville, one sister, Marie Mayle of Zanesville, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Cameron, Ronnie, Olivia, Gabriel, Carson and Kyleah.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Allen Edwards; one daughter, Michelle; two brothers, James and Wilbert "Tojo" Dalton, and one sister, Madge Jones.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with Pastor Charles Simmons officiating.

Burial will follow in the Chesterhill Cemetery.

Friends may call on the family from 10-12 on the day of the funeral.
