Most of us Daly/Daley/Dailey/Dawley folk descend from the original O'Daly, or the Gaelic "Sept of O'Dalaigh" of Ireland. There is an O'Daly website, and even at least one Y-DNA project. After the attempt to "Anglicize" many Irish, Scot and Welsh names and places, some folks left for new lands. The Islands and much of Latin America became homes as well as South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. It was in the top 25 most common surnames in Ireland a decade ago.
