My suggestion to you is to check various state death registers for Patrick (you already know where Ellen died) and get death certificates for both. Illinois has a death index, which gives the place and date of death and the certificate number -- on the Illinois State Archives web site. Ohio, PA and New York -- or various counties -- may have something similar. Then send for their death certificates, which should give you their spouse's names as well as parents' names, mother's maiden name, and their birth dates and places. You may need to send for several, checking out the wife's name for the Ellen born in Cork that you seek.
I have a James Daly who came with 2 brothers from County Cork in 1851-52 and spent a year in Ohio, probably with relatives, before moving on to Iowa. But it is possible they also went to Glens Falls first. One brother was William who spelled it Daily and I forget the other's first name for the moment. They settled near the Iowa-Missouri border [Centerville or Unionville) and James eventually crossed into Missouri after the Civil War. It is possible they were part of the same family. I ordered James's death certificate last month and am waiting. We could compare if you find Patrick's.
