Rzehak and Dam

I am searching for information on Johann Rzehak and Anna Dam. They are my grandparents from my mothers side. Elisabeth Mathilda Rzehak (Vogt) died in 1990. Cannot ask her the questions so if any one knows or think they might know some amswers please let me know. My mother had a girl before she married my father in 1950. Her name is Helga Maria. I think she was born around 1940 to 1945. When she was 2 she was removed from my mother and placed in a catholic mission and then adopted out. she suppose to be living in the franfurt to berlin area. I only found out I had a sister after my mother died. So if any one can help please.

Hi
Would you happen to know if Mary is related to a Lydia Dam who married Jacob Moise/Moses in Quebec abt. 1837.They moved to Clinton County NY about 1860. I'm trying to find out where in Quebec they came from. At this time, I'm sorry that I don't have any information on Mary. I don't know Lydia's parents names or brothers and sisters. Maybe we're looking for the same family. Please reply. If I find out anything about Mary,I'll let you know. Thank you. Sandy

Was Hoatland her maiden name or married name? I have a couple of possibilities.
1) Esther Jane Hoatland, born Jan 14, 1848, daughter of John Hoatland (1825 - 1862) and Savilla Bennett (abt 1822 - 1866). Esther Jane married a man by the last name of Comstock when she was about 18 yrs old. There is a Henry & Ester Comstock in the 1870 census with daughters Katie and Magdalena, living in Syracuse. Ester is the right age (22), so I think this is Esther Jane Hoatland. Esther Jane had a sister Adella born in 1854.
2) Jane Hoatland, born 1838, daughter of Henry Hoatland (abt 1806 - ?) and Jane Conway (abt 1805 - 1857). Henry and Jane are also the parents of John Hoatland listed above in #1 and would be Esther Jane's grandparents.
3) There is a Jennie Hoatland in the 1910 census (born 1861) who married a Hoatland.
4) There is a Jane (born about 1885) who married Arthur Hoatland.
Please let me know if any of this works. I do have a couple more.

Granny Kay would have been the one to talk to when she was still with us. Her daughter Kay might be able to help.

Hope you are doing well.
Looking for lost family member, Jens Jorgen DAM, left in Denmark when the family came to America, ca 1875.

Parents: Jorgen Larsen DAM b 5 Aug 1809 Osterlarsker, Bornholm, Denmark d 3 Jun 1875 Melsted, Bornholm, Denmark & 2nd wife, Elisabeth Margrethe Pedersen MARKER (MARCHER) b 5 Apr 1834 Ostermarie, Bornholm, Denmark m 21 Jul 1860 , Bornholm, Denmark d 6 Jun 1894 Honeyville, Box Elder, Utah.
Children of this marriage:
Jens Jorgen DAM b 27 Apr 1861 Klemmensker, Bornholm, Denmark - would like more info on Jens.
Angeline DAM b 26 Aug 1863 Hasle, Bornholm, Denmark
Elizabeth Matilda DAM b 12 Sep 1865 Vestermarie, Bornholm
Anine/Annie Mantine DAM b 4 Mar 1867 Osterlarsker, Bornholm, Denmark
Janus Richard DAM b 16 Feb 1869 Runnie, Bornholm, Den
Ludvy Peter DAM b 4 Apr 1871 Melsted, Bornholm, Denmark.
My understanding -
After Jorgen died, Elisabeth worked and planned for passage (2 children, then 3 children, last herself and baby) to come to America. Oldest son, Jens, was working as an apprentice in a neighboring villiage/town. Elisabeth sent word for him to meet at the docks the morning of departure and he didn't show up. Elisabeth was forced into sending the youngest because she couldn't waste the purchased ticket. She then saved again for her voyage. I don't know what ever came of Jens Jorgen DAM. In 1875 the family lived in Melsted.

If you have any information about Jens Jorgen DAM please reply. The DAM name was changed to DEEM in America by brothers, Janus Richard & Ludvy Peter DAM.

Thank you, Noi Lani Deem
Nick Dam aka Nick Vander Dam DOB 2/18/12 Sioux City IA

I am looking for any information on my father. He was born "Nick Dam". He added Vander to his name at the request of the US Army while serving @ Ft Sam Houston TX in 1944. Dad was the quite it type and never really talked to much about his youth or military career of 32+ years. Dad passed away at Ft Leonard Wood MO in 1984.

Dads family (4 brothers 1 sister)is from Delft Holland and arrived is America approx. 1905. They have traced the lineage back to circa 1600. And have had it published (in Dutch) for the "Family" several years ago.

I beleive he was married 3 times - Opal Dam, Louise(?), and my mother Mary (Allen) Vander Dam.

I'd better stop here I could go on and on!
Thank you for your help and interest.
Mary:)

Dams in Arkansas

Mary Ann Dam b. July 1, 1843 in Arkansas married Peter Gilfoil Lynch born in Ireland. Mary Ann lists her parents as being from Germany on the 1920 Census. Mary and Peter had 5 children: Robert, Cornelius Boudinot, William, Lilly, and Nellie. Peter, Mary Ann and Nellie are buried in the Maysville Cemetery in Maysville, Benton County, Arkansas. Has anyone ever heard of a Dam family living in Arkansas as early as 1843 or so?
Mary Ann's mother's first name may have been Elizabeth, it is listed on her death certificate.

I have no info on Nick Dam/VanderDam. However, I noticed your last name is Hoatland. My mother's maiden name is Hoatland. I was wondering what sort of information you might have. My grandfather's name was Henry Hoatland. He was born 1870 - 1881 and died in 1948. He lived in Onondaga County, NY before going to WWI. However, he stated he was born in Sodus, NY.
