my ancester john george dame emigrated from Hanover, Germany, to this country, where he married Margaret Greene. However, I believe I read somewhere that the Dame originally ended up in Germany because they fled religious persecution in England.

Do you know anything about a David Dame born approximately 1770 in VA. He is listed in the Lawrence Co. TN 1850 census 80 y/o wife Elizabeth 60 y/o.

John[1] Dame, the immigrant left London[?], England about 13 Aug.1633 on the "James", arrived Salem, Mass. 10 Oct.1633, settled Dover[Point], N.H. 1633. no,John[1] did not come over on the Mayflower.
John[1]was a "joiner...one who did the finer part of woodwork".
John[1] built the Dame Garrison in1675 for his younger son, William Dame, as protection against the Indians.
The Dame Garrison is protected under a canopy at the Woodman Institute in Dover, N.H.

I am a "dabbler" in history and some geneoloy. I have several books inc. Scales "History of Dover,N.H." and Belknap's "History of N.H.". I also have a Dame geneology on index cards that goes back to John[1]

Hi Nana, My name id Fritz Dame, Im looking for info on Daniel Dame b abt 1801 his children Hiram b 1825, Almira A b1830, Charles b 1833, Mary E b 1835, Melvin b 1837, Joseph W b 1839, Meribah b 1841, and Abigail S b 1843 and then to move the line forward with Charles H thats leads to Edwin b 1857 son of charles H. These people just flew under the radar.

I saw today where you added some information on the Dames to your family tree. I, too, am related to the Dames. My grandfather's mother was Theresa Dame. I was so happy to see you had, in your family tree, more names, birth, death and marriage dates that I didn't have. Who is your husband a descendant of. We used to go to the "farm" in Flat Rock for family reunions. They used to make big pots of Mulligan Stew. I can't remember if it was Fred or Louis that made the stew. I added a picture of whoever it was to my family tree. Have you been able to see what I have on Ancestry, i.e., Stuart Family Tree. I had communications last year with Rebecca Smith. Her great grandparents were Frank and Emma. Her grandmother Emma Lou (Dame)Hatcher now has family reunions in Romulus. I thought she said they were in August. I told her we would like to come, but I have not heard from her in quite awhile. Her mother, Emma's daughter, is Beth (she's 56). Rebecca is 35. I should get back in touch with her -- she said she has a great picture of August, Anna and family. Do you know Rebecca? I don't remember seeing a Delia. Did you get all your information from the cemetery. I had a hard time finding, online, August and Anna's parents and the death date of Theresa. Please let me know how you/your husband and I related. I am looking for any information on my husband's family. Specifically I am looking for information on Delia R. Dame (Unsure of correct spelling of this last name. It could be Damm, Damea or even Damme among others I have found.) We believe she was born in 1894 in Michigan but we have been unable to find any information on her. We know that she married Frank Huettman (also seen as Hullam, Huttman and Huetman in different census records.) The Dames in Maidstone Township, Ontario are my relatives. My grandfather was Charles Frank Dame born in Maidstone in 1909, and I think his father was Frank. Does this help? I can get more info if needed.

Looking for info on Timothy Dame b. 1800, Strafford Co., in what is now Milton. Parents names are questionable. The father may have been a John Dame and the mother Sarah roe Emma/Emna Wardwell or a variation of the spelling. Census info says the father was born in Maine and the mother in MA. It is believed the parents died early after returning to MA. Timothy married Sarah Reed, lived in Reading and North Reading and had several children. Has anyone researching this line found anything new?

Louis Mire b. May 25, 1847, Beauharnois, Quebec
m. Helena Gendron January 7, 1878 in Trenton, Ontario

His parents are listed as "Austin & Armine". I believe this should have been Augustin and Ermine.

In the 1851 Census for Beauharnois, Ste Martine I found the following family (please pardon the spelling for the given names, the copy of the original online at Ancestry is hard to read)

My Great Grandmother was Obeline Dame Born 15 Dec 1902 She married Norris L Bigness 1 Aug 1918. I Believe her siblings were Frank, Marshall who married Leah Begin, Josephine, Maurice (Morris), Rose who married Harvey Rousseau, and Nelson. Her father's name was Maurice (Morris) born about 1849 who married Olive Vermette. I would appreciate it if anyone has anymore info please contact me.

Mary Dame is my ggrandmother, from the Barney/Bernier connection. Her father, Morris/Maurice on the 1880 census in Clinton County NY indicates he was born in Canada, thus probably migrated. Mary is noted as (8) years old in the 1880 census. Interestingly, Stephen Moses, on the 1880 census indicates they lived just two homes from one another. He is listed as 12 on the census. I would like to have record of her marriage to Stephen, and subsequent divorce. Possible divorce year around 1893, as article in Plattsburgh Sentinal indicates they defaulted on mortaged property, and Mary is listed as wife in documentation. John DAME was born 25 Aug 1785 at Durham, Strafford Co., New Hampshire and died 14 Dec 1867 at Jackson, Carroll Co., New Hampshire.

Mehitable TRICKEY was born abt 1791 in New Hampshire and died after 1870.

Children were:
Anna M. DAME born Abt 1822/1824 at Jackson, Carroll Co., New Hampshire. Anna married John K. HALL born 2 Mar 1816 at Wakefield, Carroll Co., New Hampshire and died 27 Apr 1858 at Jackson, Carroll Co., New Hampshire.

John DAME, Jr. born abt 1815 in New Hampshire and died after 1860.

The names you gave sound like my great grandfather's siblings. My grandfather was John Dame married to Josephine King, and I think his father was Maurice (Morris)Dame. They lived in the Belmont area in the French Settlement. I'm going to get my notes out and I'll send you more info. Try emailing me again and I'll keep a watch out for it.
