Mary C DAMERON. married Bennett K STANSELL, 01 April 1828, Newton Ga. One of their children was named Edward O STANSELL. Another child, Rebecca Adeline LACKEY, is my line, these people drifted from Ala into Fannin County Texas 1880s. There was a George DAMERON dead by 1850 in Fannin County. There is also a DAMERON Creek in Fannin County Tx. Rebecca died 1903 Hobart, Indian Terr (now Western Oklahoma). I have photo of Rebecca about 1900 Lamar County Texas. Rebecca looked very much Native American in this old photo (of course, maybe from STANSELL kin). Most think our DAMERONS started early Virginia. Virginia issued lots of land in Mo for ARW service. Don't know why some went south in Ga as my line did. There have been comments on internet about Mo DAMERONS knowing the JAMES/Younger gang. The James gang were visitors in Fannin County, too. One of the few Red River crossing from Indian Terr into Tx was in Fannin County very near Dameron Creek. Rebecca died near where Gang hid in Okla. So maybe some association whether good or bad.
