I am related to Friedrich (Frederick) Damme from the Franklin county, MO area. Frederick was my great-great-grandfather and married Christina Roethemeyer from the same area. They moved from Franklin county, MO to Otoe county, NE in the 1860's. If this matches your information and shows we are connected, please write me at cwolbert@neb.rr.com. Please look up Rickard Family Tree. They have Frederick Damme lineage and Koch lineage. Hope this helps. My
gggrandmother was Anna Marie Damme who married a Koch and then after his death married Edward F. Borchers, Sr.

I descend from the Damme line in the area of "Berger " as well however I have not chased this group as well as some of the line But Ann Marie Damme ( gggm) was born in Perry county Mo in 1850... Does this name connect in your data??? I am currently still trying to update a 1960's family history my grandfather compiled ( Louis Koch) So if any of you are out there with information that may help ~ (Koch - Damme - Vahlkamp - Rosswinkel) Please reply to this so I get these records together for us all. I have learned to even transcribe Old German Script to help in doing this and I love to meet family that is out there even by e-mail.

I just hit n read your msg after a google search on the surname ROSSWINKEL. There is a passenger list with one of the R's immigrating to US from Germany in the 1800's.

Philomena Strasser died in February 1873
and a newborn son died 4 months later.
Does anyone know of records on Emiel and
Laura?
Jacob A. Strasser was her father
who led the Strasser Union Band, the 44th
Regimental Band and the philharmonic orchestra and mannerchor 1864-1910. He died
1912. Buried in Oakdale, Davenport IA.

I am looking for information on the Damme family, I really don't know where to begin looking for this Family Surname "DAMME" I did a search on Google web site and didn't get too far, I am wondering if when the Damme family migrated to the US if they droped the "Van" or "Von" suffix to the Damme surname. M ggg granfather’s name is Louis Henry Damme, b. April 12, 1843 in Berger MO. He married, had five children, and died in Cook, NE. Although I have plenty of information on his descendants, the only information I have about his parents is his father’s name. It seems that we may have a connection - given the Berger to Nebraska connection and that perhaps Louis is one of the children of your Johann “Henry” Damme or one of his brothers (if any came over with Johann). Does anybody have any information that may help me in my search - Louis Damme has been a bit of an obstacle for me. My e-mail is ribka26@aol.com.

I also have only 5 children for Johann and Catherine Marie Beste leaving Germany on Oct 6, 1841. (am new at this and unable to figure out your email to reply) My grandfather was Heinrich Christoph (Herman or HC) Damme, brother of August Ludwig Damme. Aren't the names endlessly reused? Are Johann Henrich and Maria Elisabeth Ruwer the parents of Johann Heinrich???

Johann came to America from Westphalia Province Germany around 1841 thru New York and settled near Berger, Missouri with wife Catherine Beste and 4 children. He died in 1854, she in 1853. I have some information that 2 children were born after they made their home in Missouri, but that is not verified. My mother was daughter of Louis August Damme, son of Friedrich Wilhelm and Charlotte Schacht Damme. I need information about Johann and Catherine. Contact me via email.

Thank you for replying. I do not have the names of the parents of Johann nor did I have the departure date. As you probably know, my grandfather Ludwig (Louis) farmed in Oklahoma after leaving Nebraska. My mother was his youngest child. Have you visited the old home place near Berger, MO? Would like to know more about the information you might have on the Dammes.
