Joseph Danby and Sarah Wiltse just happen to be my Great Geat Grandparents. My mother was Florence Ethel Danby, the daughter of Edward Adelbert Danby and Sarah Jane Gamble of Lyndhurst. Perhaps we may have some interesting information for each other. I just happen to live down the road in Brockville.

I have gathered a lot of info re Arthur and James Danby both in Kidderminster and Philadelphia but have never come across the name Jane.Sorry of no help at this stage but will keep an eye out for her.

Im am looking for information on Beryl Austina Danby. I believe she would have been born around 1920 In the liverpool area (although this is just through hearsay), as her husband Donald Ryman Was born 1920 in Horsham West Sussex and their daughter Janine was Born in 1950 in "Border" Cumberland.
I can find no details of her birth, the only one similar is far to young.
I have their Marriage certificate but the only detail it gives me is her fathers name - Austin Danby. He was a seaman but that is all I have and can find no other information about him.
Donald, Beryl and Janine moved to Australia in the 1960s, Don and Beryl died a few years back and Janine was never given any information about either side of the family.

Is any one out there related to this Danby family? Does any one know any thing about them? I dont even know Beryl's mothers name!

I hope you are still at this e-mail address. I am working on a Slack genealogy effort and am making this inquiry to see what additional information I can find.

Am interested in learning more about the descendants of George Danby, who was married to Erie / Eruie Slack about the 19th of January 1853. The family went from Ontario (Leeds) to Ohio, and then some of the children went on to Kansas. The known children of George & Erie (Slack) Danby were Amulet, Monarah, Hester, Samuel, William J, Clyena, Ross Charles, and Dexter.
Ross Charles & Dexter Danby were born in Ohio, but the others were all born in Canada. The census data I've seen indicates the family came to America around 1866. I have no data as yet on the daughters or their husbands - no death dates, residence locations, or husband names.

My husband is a descendant of Samuel Slack Jr. and Louisa Reed. Samuel's sister was the Erie / Eruie Slack married to George Danby.

Francis Danby was born in Wexford, Ireland in 1793 and died in England in 1861. His wife was Hannah and their kids were Francis James, James Francis, John, Thomas, Frances Olivia, and William. He spent a lot of his early career in Bristol. I am a descendent of James Francis.
Google him for more info. Are we close?

I do not know if he was a painter . The only thing mentioned in the family has been that he worked for Royalty. Details are sketchy thats why I was hoping someone would be able to help fill in the blanks .

Arthur and Martha were my biological great grandparents. Their daughter, Jeanette, was my grandmother. She married Martin Guy Stone. Their oldest child, Margaret Elizabeth Stone was my mother. I was adopted as an infant, but I did meet Jen several times and gathered some family info. Arthur, Martha, Jen and Guy are all buried in cemetary right off Rte 476 in Broomall, PA. There are other markers with Danby names. I also understand Arthur went back and forth to England four times I believe and wrote a journal or diary of his travels. Family lore has it that he distributed copies to several family members...I just have not been able to catch up to a copy yet! Would be pleased to share info I have with anyone interested or hear from any relatives.

I was delighted to read your post re the above.
I sent you an e-mail direct, but obviously it didn't get through to you.
Arthur Robert Danby's mother was Mary Blench, elder sister of my great grandfather
William Blench. Arthur's parents were also witnesses at my great
grandparents' wedding (William Blench and Annie Elizabeth Clark,
29/12/1881, Stokesley, England).

Obviously my interest is primarily in the Blench family, but as a Blench
married a Danby, this is how my interest expanded to include the Danbys.

I have quite a lot on the Danbys, but there are lots of gaps, and I hope you will be able to fill a few
of them for me.

The Danbys lived in Yarm, North Yorkshire. I understand that of William
Danby's 10 children 4 emigrated to the US, with the other 6 remaining in
North Yorkshire.

I also have information on the Blench family going back to the 1700s where
the earliest reference I can find is that they originate from Kiplin, a
small hamlet near Catterick in North Yorkshire. I can forward this on to
you if you wish.

I would be most grateful for as many specific (or even approximate!)
details as you have for any of your (and my!) relatives, especially dates
and places of birth, marriage and death.

Needless to say, any details about living relatives will remain strictly
confidential.

Your help really would be very much appreciated.

Arthur Robert Danby and Martha Alice Westgarth were my grandparents. They arrived in the United States with four children. My father, Arthur Westgarth Danby, was the fifth child of nine. He was the first born in the United States on the 17th of August 1915 in Pennsylvania. The only sibling of Arthur Robert Danby and Martha Alice Westgarth that I knew of (but was to young to remenber details) was Thomas Danby who I think owned a farm in the country side outside Philidelphia. Two of Arthur Robert Danby and Martha Alice Westgarth's children survive, my uncle Steve Danby and my aunt Martha Danby. They reside in Pennsylvania.

Anyone seeking information on my grandparents may contact me and I will attempt to locate more acceptable documentation other than my knowledge and recollection.

Hi, I am hoping to find info on a Dinah Danby who married a James Buckner on 5-22-1822 in Edwards County, Illinois. She passed away before April 1828 because that is when James remarried. I sure would appreciate some help, I have not been able to locate any parents, age or whereabouts, nothing just a marriage date. Would it be possible her Danby family would have come out of Canada? Just speculating.

Thomas Danby, the son of Francis Danby, married Helen Ann Muir in 1875. Thomas Danby was a landscape painter and was made a full member of the Society of Watercolours in 1870. In 1881, they lived at 11 Park Rd, Haverstock Hill with their children and 3 servants.

Thomas died on 25.3.1886. Helen moved to 11 Maitland Park Villas, Haverstock Hill where she died on 3.2.1888. Walter Field of Hampstead was appointed as guardian of her children, still minors.

1. Emily Pauline Hardidge Dandy born 1877 Islington married Eugen Andrew Butcher 1904.She died on 1.11.1907

2. Thomas Hardidge Danby born 1877 Hampstead, an artist. He has served as a sergeant in the 1st Royal Dragoons before enlisting as a private in Australia 26th battalion on 30.3.1915. He contracted rhematic fever, recovering in hospital in Cairo before returning to Australia on 17.7.1916 and discharged with rheumatism, returning to Mt Morgan, Queensland. Thomas married Elizabeth Wilhelmina Watt in 1942 Mosman. Thomas died 27.1.1948 in Randwick

Florence was my grandmother. Her maiden name was Florence Louise Rowen. My aunt Pat (who has postings on this message board--Pat L. Danby) has done extensive research into the family genealogy and it would be best if you could correspond with her, if you have not done so already. By pure chance I came across Arthur Robert Danby marrying Martha Alice Westgarth March 1/4 1907 Stockton Co. Durham England. He was born March 1/4 1885 Stokesley North Riding Yorkshire and she was born June 1/4 1885 Lanchester Co. Durham. Found this whilst researching my unrelated DANBY ancestors.

Danby, Siddle and Morley of Hull

John Siddle of Hull b 1828 married Mary A Danby of Stockport Cheshire in 1858. Mary had a son Benjamin (Danby) from a previous marriage. John and Mary went on to have 6 other children, Thomas, Joseph, John, Dinah, George and William.
My father informs me that the Danby, Siddle and Morley family were in business together in Hull. Just what this business was I don't know. During the 1960's and 70's the Danby family had a large showroom in George St Hull containing Bathroom and Kitchen furniture.

If anyone has any information on the above relationship, I would be very interested to receive it.

John Danby, born 1895 was my grandfather. Bertha Soar and Joseph Danby were witnesses at his marriage to my Granma Floence Bradshaw in 1915. I have only just started researching the Danby line. Any information would be most welcome.

Or, do you have a connection to William Danby born early 1800's in Herefordshire and his wife Pitance Danby born early 1800's in Suffolk (both comedians) also Charles Danby born in 1857 in Newport, Monmouthshire (a comedian/dancer).

Sorry if this is not much use as I ama beginner!

My great grandfather was Samuel Danby & he married Florence Freeman. They are both buried in Ribbesford Church, Bewdley, Worcestershire. He was born approx. 1869 (Died Dec 25, 1945) and she approx 1870 (Died March 1946). I presume this is a coincidence but ther may be a link.

Searching for any information on Joseph Arthur Charles Danby
The new information we found out about him is as follows:
- died on Jan 25 1938 of illness at Bootless Bay Papua New Guinea
- arrived in Papua New Guinea in 1910 from Queensland when the gold rush was on
- he was employed as a roads overseer to the public works department
- born in England were he was a scene shifter then drover's cook in Australia.
We found this information from the Pacific island monthly magazine dating 21st Feb 1938
