OK---thanks. Guess I'll use the John and Bridget Dugdale as is with the notation that I have no real proof yet and then keep searching. I live near the midwest National Archives and the big Mormon genealogical library in Independence, MO. so will try to visit them this summer and see what I come up with.

Hello, All!
I am still working on Mary Elizabeth. I do believe she was prob. the aunt of Marta Washington but I have not found her name listed in any of the Dandridge genealogy records yet.
Aquabelle, if you can substantiate this I'd be very grateful.

Mary Howell

Hi Everyone
I am a Dandridge researcher over in Australia, most of my information in your area of the tree I have just gotten from people on here and if anyone contradicts anything I put notes. I also have a family tree fully substanciated but it doesnt go back very far.

I have Mary Elizabeth Dandridge m to John Durden and her details being b abt 1717 although I have also been advised she was b 24 Jun 1693 but at the moment I dont believe this to be correct. I have her as having 1 sister 5 brothers and being the daughter of John Dandridge b 1655 and Bridget Dugdale b 1654 both from Oxfordshire England. Her mothers father was Christopher Dugdale and her fathers parents were William Dandridge b 30 Jan 1693 & Joan Meade b abt 1615. William 1613 had 2 brothers John and Francis.

I have further information if you want to discuss further please contact me privately.

Mary, Helen, count me in, too! Trying to figure out Mary Elizabeth Dandrige Durden. I, too have her as Martha's sister but just realized a week ago this is ot right. My hinch was John Dadridge's sister but have found nothing. I come down from John durden (Durdino) to John Durden Jr. to Jacob Durden to Henry Hilliard Durden to Edith Durden to the Paulett/Pollette/Pawlet line. I'd love to unravel this one. I see it's been a while since anyone last posted to the board. Have you found anything to help solve this mystery?

There are two of us cousins working on the tree from the US and I recently connected with a Dandridge cousin in the UK.

Best wishes,

Deb

I would love to have pictures of Elsing Green and any others as Elizabeth T. Dandridge, daughter of Robert Ambler Dandridge, was my 3rd great grandmother. Another item that I am searching for is any land ownership of Robert before or while he was in the Revolutionary War. Anyone have access to that info?
My address: Dina Bensen, 21211 McCourtney Rd., Grass Valley, CA 95949
Email: bensenranch@sbbmail.com

OMG...spent the day Saturday at the British Library. What an incredible collection of rare books on every subject. The first set I encountered was Segar Baronagium Genealogicum, this is a collection in 6 volumes of the coat of arms and pedegree of family names of the gentry. I have a list of clients whose ancestors are from this area and I am going to spend the whole day Wednesday just with these volumes. More to come. The first name I looked up was West and the tree there includes Cantelupe so I know I am on the right track!!
Dandridge/Watkins of Alabama and Florida

I am a Dandridge, in the line of James Miles, son of Thomas Samuel, son of Thomas Miles...which originated in Colleton County, SC. At some point, my great grandfather Thomas Samuel moved to Georgia and then Alabama and married Annie Watkins. They eventually migrated to Florida. This Annie Watkins was born in 1890 and died in FLORIDA, not in Alabama. There are confusing entries on family trees in Ancestry, but I remember my grandmother and she is buried in Leesburg, FL, where I grew up. I am looking for the Watkins line that originated in Alabama. Her brother Cliff lived in Panama City, FL for many years. Any family members researching this line are welcome to contact me at CDSelleck@aol.com as we have absolutely NO information on Annie and Cliff's parents.

I, too, would like you to send a copy of the picture you took of Elsing Green. I've been working on the Dandridge line for over six years now and it looks like I have enough info to qualify for DAR! Robert Ambler Dandridge was my 'patriot'. If you would like any of my info, let me know and I'll put you into the 'permission' list of Ancestry for the Dandridge/Tardy line. Most info is documented but I am still looking for the marriage document or proof of my great great grandparents' marriage (Jane Dandridge Allen to Joseph Benjamin Tardy in Pontotoc, MS), second marriage for both.
DLBensen@sbcglobal.net

My email address is jcollins@kaufmanisd.net. For the most part I am just trying to get the last 200 years of the Dandriges in place, my Daddy and aunts and uncles spoke alot about grandmothers and grangfathers and aunts and uncles of theirs and their memories, at this point in my searches I want to follow up on little hints I already have on this time period. However it is amazing what three and four and five hundred years have unearthed about this Dandridge clan.

If you haven't received a copy please let me know with your email address.
Lynn Laster

PS I also took a photo of the "Chelsea" mansion which is not very far from "Elsing Green" and visited with the owner, Bill Richardson. Chelsea was built by Austine Moore about 1702. He also is my ancestor. Several of his descendants married into the Dandridge family. I will provide the photo of the Chelsea mansion to Moore descendants also upon request. Again I will need the email address.

I visited the "Elsing Green" mansion about 10 years ago. Elsing Green was built by William Dandridge who married Unity West. Mrs. Lafferty who lives in the mansion with her husband showed my wife and I through the the mansion and the dowry cottage next door. It was a memorable visit. I took a photograph of the mansion that I will share with any Dandridge descendant (just as I am). Just tell me where to send it by email attachment.

Thank you so much. You might be interested in a manuscript I have that for some reason my parents and aunts and uncles had researched on Dandridges, the best I can discern, about 50years ago. I wonder why they did that, wish I had known it existed so I could have asked. It is not something that at that time any of them would have had the time or money to do.It obviously was done by someone that knew how to do that sort of thing. If you are interested I would be happy to make copies of the pages and send them to you.Just a thought.

Their son George Washington Dandridge was my 2 Great grandfather. I am currently in London doing some research on the Dandridge, Spotswoods, Maxwells. I will be back home in March 2012, home is North Carolina. If you would like to use NC as a home base while researching in the Virginia area, just let me know.

All of us start that way and it is a real kick to find out little things like that along the way. You are on Ancestry with your 'tree'. Would you like to look at my Dandridge tree. I will have to add your name to my 'request permission to view' area. But only if you want to. Let me know.
