Hi. Charles Mashtare III from Spokane, WA.
from my research and understanding, Dandurand or D'Andurand is the original surname. Marcheterre was added like all dit names to differentiate between other clans of dandurands. Not sure when it was added but it was before they came over to canada. Marcheterre means Marched the Earth or Land walker or similar. Walker is a understandable translation and shortening of the name. hope i helped
