I was also looking in the Pescara area for relatives. My husband family is from Torre De Passeri and his uncle Ettore (Arthur)Mariano/Mariani m. Anna D'Intino (all our records were spelled D'Into or Dentino). After finding the new spelling I found her coming over via Ellis Island and they have about 100 records for D'Intino coming mostly from the Abruzzi area. As you can see from Mariano/i we also have a spelling trouble spot.
Hope this helps.
Ellen

Hello Paul, if you're still there after all this time.

Here's George's baptism from the Lancashire Online Parish Clerk - http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/index.html

Baptism: 16 Aug 1863 St Mary, Tarleton, Lancashire, England
George Dandy - Son of Elizabeth Dandy, Single woman
Abode: Tarleton
Baptised by: M.Fletcher Curate
Register: Baptisms 1839 - 1888, Page 165, Entry 1319
Source: LDS Film 1278941

George married Betty Thomason of Banks in Jan-Feb-Mar 1892 according to the Civil Registration Marriage Index. Betty Thomason was my 2nd cousin 4 times removed, but I haven't followed George any further back yet. I seem to be related to both Betty Thomason's parents, I do have some ancestors from Tarleton but I'm still filling those in so I don't know if I'm related to George or not.

I could find the Volume and Page number if you want to order George and Betty's marriage certificate, it's unlikely to show George's father but you might get lucky.

Steve Baxter
Church Road, Banks

Amy, I had written to you back in 2003 about possible ties to your family from Italy through PA. I am still at a stand still with the correct name. Dandy, Dandino, D'Intino.. who knows for sure. Have you had any success? You can reach me at Jo@hughesplace.com

I am a descendant of Howell Dawdy. I am working on this family history, and luckily, many other people have already found such amazing things! My line goes like this: (Howell, James, John W., Wlliam H., Bert Raymond, William M., C. Jo). Jo is my mother. I live in Abingdon, IL, where everyone from James down is buried. There is a Dawdy cemetary here that is very interesting.

Hope to hear from you!

Nicki Fox

Nicky, I am administrator of the Dawdy family site at myfamily and would like to invite you to have a look at the information Dawdys of both Canada and the US have posted there.
If you are interested, please contact me. The transportation theory has yet to be proved but could be true given the early dates we have for Howell and James Dawdy in north America.
Joan

Charles DANDY and family, Exeter, Devon, late 18thC

My Dandy ancestry is sparse at this point.

In the area of Exeter, Devon, I have

Charles DANDY m. Elizabeth Bovett
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&...
with nine children born in the area. Occupations unknown, though his son Charles was a clothier according to parish records.

My descendancy is through the marriage of Fanny Dandy to Henry Mortimore.

I coughed up my money to the Devon FHS and got the extractions from their transcriptions. Pretty well only the one family in the area. This makes me think that the Dandys arrived in Devon by the 1770s.

Any suggestions and thoughts welcome. Fellow ancestors with piles of information most welcome! ;-)

Regards Andrew
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/~billinghurst

I have got quite a bit on the Dandy downlines - I have even tracked the Canadian branch as far as the early censuses would let me - so if you'd like to get in touch off-list, I'd be happy to share info.
Jill

My family research has led me to Howard Dandy in Baltimore in 1910. Isaac and Carrie are living just next door according to the census.

My interest is in Howard's wife, Rosa C. I believe she is an Armacost (or perhaps McCullough). If you've viewed the 1910 Balto. census you'll see John E. Armacost and his new bride, Nina R. are living with Howard and Rosa. They are listed as Brother in Law and Sister in Law. They are my maternal grandparents. If you have ANY info on Rosa C. it may help me break a huge brick wall.

I'm also emailing you this message just in case you don't discover this one on the Rootsweb board.

But if this Sarah 'disppears' from all records in Yorkshire - shall we say before 1800 - it could be just possible they are one and the same person.

Do you have anymore info on Sarah. My 5xg grandfather was Jonathon Dandy who married Sarah Dandy at St. Saviour's Church, Coalpit Heath, Gloucestershire, on 25/1/1802. They later changed their name to Dando. Although in the 1835 census, and later, they record their places of birth as 'Frampton Cotterell' I have been unable to find any record of their births or christenings in the area. Although from the recorded age Sarah's birth would be c1783, it is possible they are one and the same person. I have long thought that it is possible that both moved into the area when very young and were unaware of their true birthplace.

Many thanks.

Hi Alastair
I'm not sure about all of the info I do have - it's clear back to Margaret Dandy, b. 1841 in Sigglesthorne, m. Walker Routledge Preston in Hornsea in 1867. Then I have to go to the IGI, which has Margaret's parents as William Dandy and Ann Walker - this fits with Margaret's marriage cert, but I haven't yet managed to discover a birth certificate for her to confirm it. From the IGI and the 1881 census, William Dandy looks to have been born in Sigglesthorne in 1805, parents Joseph Dandy and Ann. There is an Ancestry tree, which suggests that Joseph was born in 1779 in Hatfield - but I'm not sure on what evidence. Hatfield is in the West Riding, about 38 miles from Sigglesthorne, and most of these bods were farm labourers who pretty much stayed put (unless they suddenly decided to up and off to Canada or somewhere!), so I'm a bit doubtful about it. The IGI only gives the children of Joseph and Ann as Hannah (1800), my William (1805) and Alitha (1815), but here are also member-submitted records of Mary (1799), and another Mary (1809). That is really all I have - I'd be delighted if you can tell me any more. I have seen Hutton Cranswick Dandys on the IGI, and that is less than 10 miles from Sigglesthorne, so we could well be cousins!

Creighton Dandy

I would like to have info about Creighton Dandy from Indiana. He was a lawyer in Indianapolis. He married my gr. grandfather's sister, Helen Paramore. They had two children, a daughter and a son, before Creighton died. The daughter never married but, I believe the son did. Would really like to find descendants of that son.

Two men believed to be brothers by the name of James and Howell Dandy were transported to the American colonies as early as 1754. Not necessarily together. Family researchers believe their surname may've got changed to Daudy/Doddy/Dody and finally to Dawdy. Both men were documented in New Jersey later in 1771 where a reward was offered for the return of Howell (Dawdy) as an endentured run-a-way.He made his way to Tennesse and N. Carolina participating the in Rev. War. James (Dawdy) lived the rest of his life in Sussex co., N.J. We would love to hear from anyone who can connect to this line, iether as Dandy or Dawdy.
Joan Dawdy Wilton

If your Joseph was born 17th May 1778 in Hutton Cranswick (father Joseph, mother Mary Danby) I can take you back to a wedding in 1705. I am descended from one of Joseph's brothers. Cheers

Looking for information on William Dandy b. 1859 in Tarleton, UK. Son of Elizabeth Dandy and Robert Brookfield. Elizabeth (Betty) b. 1832 and d. 1909, possibly never married. I think she had two sisters: Ellen b. 1830 and Margaret b. 1828.

I don't think so, but it shouldn't be ruled out as impossible. My William Dandy was the son of Elizabeth Dandy, who I don't believe ever married. William b. 1859 married Jane Parkinson in Ormskirk in 1879, however I cannot find any details of what happened to William after that. His daughter's marriage certificate in 1920 claims her father was deceased, and Jane married again twice, however I have been unable to find any death for this William Dandy.

All of this occurred in Ormskirk - does any of it sound at all familiar?

Debbie
