You can find him in the census at www.familysearch.org
1900 census, Fort Wayne, Allen County Indiana
James Danehy, age 51, born Ireland, immigrated 1870
Margaret Danehy, age 41, born Indiana, married 20 years
Phillip Danehy, age 19
Mary Danehy, age 17
Thomas Danehy, age 12
Jeremiah Danehy, age 9, born Feb. 1891
Ellen Danehy age 6
Marguerite Danehy, age 4
Daniel J. Danehy, age 1 (1910 census says Donald)

I saw Denehy and Danehy in different records. There is a marriage record for Jeremiah, also on family search, to someone other than Susie, and also his WWII card. Have you looked for an obit for Jeremiah, or his death record, or even Susie's obit? That would help determine if this is the right Jeremiah.

Can anyone help pls? My gt-grandfather, John Danehy (he may have been using the surname Jackson) was killed whilst working on the building of a dam in the USA, around the year 1880. The region, I believe, may have been MA but don't know for sure. Can anyone tell me if and where industrial accidents might have been recorded at that period in time? The Social Security death index doesn't go back that far and I am completely lost at the moment as to where to look next.
thanks all - and if anyone ever needs a favour from the Sheffield UK area, just ask.
Dear Ed

Thank you for replying. I shall be happy to keep you informed of my findings. Acutally, I am quite hopeful on finding some more information at the moment. Let me explain. I began this research around 18 months ago and was doing it mainly for my mum. Mum had moved to Sheffield from Penarth (south Wales) with her mother when she was 16 and had lost contact with all the family over the years. My mum's dad, John Tennant, was a captain in the merchant navy but sadly, he died in 1955 and mum never really knew much else about him as her parents had divorced. So I began my search with the paternal side of mum's family. Then, when I'd had good success with this side, I began looking at the Maloney/Danehy line and drew blanks. Mum has just one brother, David, who she had not seen since 1976 at her mother's funeral (due to some silly family rift) - however, because of my "digging" I manged to contact David a few months ago, who as it happened, would have loved to have been in contact with mum, but didn't know where to start. Even sadder, my mum died suddenly on Xmas Eve - she hadn't been ill or anything, and it came as a terrific shock to us (she had just had her 70th birthday). So, I am still carrying on with this, she loved knowing about her family, as I do too and, David came to her funeral where he has promised to keep in touch with me. As a result, it turns out that he has kept in touch with one of mum's cousins, who sent a lovely letter about how he remembered her during their childhood. Importantly, he also happens to be Catherine Danehy's grandson, and I wrote to him last week asking if he had any information he could pass on. I've not had a reply yet but I'm very hopeful. So, sorry to go on a bit but that's the background.
Will be in touch - If I can do any looking up for you here (not knowing where you are) please by all means ask.

all the best
Theresa

Dear John - thank you so much for resending the information. My gt-grandmother (Catherine Danehy) was born in 1870 so I suppose her father, John, would have been born around 1850. I shall check out the church you mention and let you know how I go on. Many thanks for your help. Theresa

the Danehy's

Dear Sir - I came across your web site message regarding the Danehy's and would love to look at your data. I am searching for information on my great-grandmother, Catherine Danehy and don't have much to go on. All I have is a copy of her marriage certificate. She married Daniel Maloney (who himself was born in Killaloe, western Ireland) in Cardiff, south Wales, in 1900. Her age was 30 at the time and her father was John Danehy, the certificate said he was deceased. I don't know where she came from, apart from the fact it must have been Ireland. I suspected it might be from the same county as Daniel, county Clare, but I have had a search done by a family history society in Ireland who came up with nothing at all. I should be most interested to hear if you have any information on the origin of the name.
Thank you for your help.
Theresa Green
