My maternal great aunt (Gertrude Robinson) married Otto L. Danek and they lived in Glencoe, Minnesota. He had a son named Roger and a daughter named Rosalie (married to LLoyd Tracy). I used to visit the Daneks when I was a child in the 1950's and 1960's. Is this Otto Danek a relation of yours?
My email is carol.bennett.cb@gmail.com

If it is the same Mary Danek I would have information on 7 more siblings with family groups on 4 and their parents.
I have Marie Kosar as 28 Feb 1860 - 28 Jun 1933
I have the same 8 children from Martin and Katherina. I'll have to research Marie's birthdate more.
I have Bessie's family group
I have Anna with 2 children
I have Barbara with 1 child
I do not have family groups for the others. It seems as if Anna and Barbara should have more children.

My father grew up in Cicero and I now live in Bolingbrook which is a suburb of chicago.

I just sent the information for Marie and Frank and Martin Pekarek who married Katherina to a genealogist who is checking to see if the 1857 or 1869 census is available for the town of Budejovice. I am trying to get information from farther back.

I can send copies of family groups through regular e-mail. It would be more efficient than writing it all down with this method.
Wendy Wilde
cwwilde@yahoo.com

Well, I have Frank down for April 27, 1858 to Sept 16, 1908 and Marie for Oct 1859 to June 28, 1933 so I guess we're close. My information has it that Martin and Katherina (I have her as Catherine and I think they called her Aunt Kate) had eight children: Charles, Edward, Isabel, Ann, Rose, Lillian, Barbara and Josephine. Which one are you related to? Where do you live? I'm in Chicagoland.

I am the great granddaughter of Katherina, born 11 Sep 1878
She is Bessie's sister. They were children of Frank Danek and Marie Kosar. I have 8 siblings including Bessie and Katherina, with dates. I have no information on Frank or Marie's parents.
Katherina married a Martin Pekarek and settled in the Chicago, IL area

Can we exchange information to see if what we have is correct, or perhaps one of us has more information.
Thanks in advance.

I have a new e-mail. cwwilde@yahoo.com
Wendy Wilde.
I am the great granddaughter of an Ottilie Danek who to the best of my knowledge migrated here as a child and lived in Houston all of her life. I don't know where she migrated from or anything further than her name, but your message caught my eye about Galveston. So I guess I'm wondering if you know any of the names of the family members traveling over together. Any help would be great. Thanks

Hi Mary,
I was just checking the Danek boards and found your reply. I don't know how I missed it months ago, I am sorry.

My Anna Danek died at sea and it says it on the galveston database records. I did find a few Anna Danek's on the list and if I recall correctly, one of them was listed as senile. I have tried everything to see if anybody can tell me where the ship stopped to bury her. I am assuming somewhere in Cuba. My uncle remembers his father (Anna's grandson) saying she was buried on an island somewhere. That is all I know.

Anna was in her 60's when she died in 1911. I know nothing of her past. My researcher in Czech finds no Anna Danek married to Joseph Vondra. He did find an Anna Wondra who gave birth to Joe Jr and his birthdate matches my grandfather's. She and the Vondra/ Wondra's are a mystery to me and the researcher.

If I ever do find a way to trace deaths at seas, I will get back to you.

My father recently had a 4 wheeler accident and passed away. On the way following the ambulance to the hospital, the house burnt down. I have not had time to research nor the desire to do so.

I will get back to you once I find anything out.
Thanks for you patience.
Judy

Well here it is a little over 3 years later, I never got a response on this so I am hoping a little new activity might get something going. My name is Bryan Danek, I was born June 8, 1972 in Berwyn, IL. My fathers name on the certificate is Ronald Danek but he apparenly died before I was born. There is some mystery around this as I have never seen a picture or have known any relatives on his side. If anyone knows Ronald Danek that lived once in the Berwyn-Cicero-Oak Park area or any of his relatives please let me know.

Thanks.

Hello Julie,
To the best of my knowledge Marie (Jilek) Danek did not have a sister named Marianny. Marie (Jilek) Danek was from Policka, Bohemia. They could have been related - but I do not think they were sisters.
The surname "Pishney" is very familiar to me. I think that a couple of Frank and Sophie's sons married Pishney girls in Kansas. I will have to check my records but that is what I recall off the top of my head.
Please email me at - kathy.hertzog@att.net
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kathy

Hi Judy, The story the family tells is that my greatgrandmother died on the way here from Bohemia and was buried at sea. I now find someone buried in the cemetery in Pierz, MN by the name of Franciska Donek wife of Johann Donek. I cannot find her maiden name anywhere. I am still baffled as to why my mother did not tell us she was buried here as we live in the area. Also, none of the descendants were named after her, when their custom was to do so. I think the ship's records should say if someone died at sea. The ship records that I have recently found do not mention that. I would like to hear your story. Hope to hear from you again.
