I am a Danekes (diff spelling). I've heard rumors from my father that the Danekes family split; one side to America, the other to Indonesia. This is the closest I've come to the name. Do you know the beginning of your side's history. When and where from they emmigrated?

I was wondering if anyone know a Jimmy Danekas. He is my brother and we were seperated when we were younger. I have recently gotten engaged and would like to talk to him. My bio. father's name is James Danekas. He remarried several years ago to a Donna Danekas. The last place that they lived that I know if is in Texas, North of Austin. Any info would be greatly welcomed.

Christy

Yes, all the Danekas families came through Minonk, IL.
where I live in the summer.....(I'm in AZ for the winter).
Do you know anything about your grandfather? His father's name? Look for their obituaries. That will give you a BIG clue. Let me know and I can give you a ton of info. There use to be a Danekas from your area come to Minonk for cheese from our cheese factory. It had the Danekas name on it.....Looking forward to hearing from you...Emily

Oh my God! I don't believe this! Actually, I'm not sure this IS my line......I believe the BRAUER is correct-in fact, a great-uncle was said to have used that spelling all his life-Clarence H. Brower.

My notes: Hike Brauer m. Gepke Denikus (misspelled?). Both born in Holland, buried Bloomington, Ill. I've no proof, but I think Hike "Americanized" his name to Henry

I searched Gepke Denikus on cyberillinois marriage site and found Henry Brower m. Gebke Danekes 10/11/1853. There's also Hanri Brower m. Gebke Danekes, but it's the same file. It seems that, maybe, they tried to correct BRAUER, the clerk didn't quite get it right, and BROWER began! . I've sent for the marriage cert., but haven't received it yet,

Children: Mary, Fanny, Ana, Margaret, Henry, Gerad, William, Henry. Notice the two Henry's. I assumed the last was William Henry, but now I'm beginning to think that there WAS two Henry's in this family. Is that possible?

I have the Will of Gerad Brower that verifies all but two of the children, but I'll stop the names for now. Do these people look familiar to you? :<) niner

I, too, live in Illinois. The most I could find was an obit from a Washington, IL paper from Jan 1910 for Wirtie Daenekas:
"Wirtie Daenekas was born in East Friesland, Germany, Dec 3, 1818. He came to this country in 1857, settling on a farm west of Washington. The same year he was married to Engel Lenes who died in 1886 leaving no children. He was the oldest of a large family and has survived all but a brother Robert, who lives in the West, and a sister, Mrs. Annie Statz of Kewanee, Ills., both of whom were present at the funeral.
His death was occasioned by old age, being between 88 and 89 years old. Though not robust, his death was sudden and a great surprise to family and friends. He had lived for a number of years in the family of his niece, Mrs. Casper Oertle, near Farmdale."
Mrs Casper Oertle was my great-grandmother and I remember my grandmother talking about how they always had some family living with them. I would like more information about Wirtie, Robert, Annie, and Folkert (my gg-grandfather). Do you know who thier parents were? Do you know anything about Folkert's generation?
