Bernice E. Danforth, 89, a resident of the Chautauqua County Home, formerly of West Green Street, Dunkirk, died Tuesday morning (Jan. 27, 2009) at the home.

She was born June 30, 1919 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Harry and Martha (Israel) Kraiger.

A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Mrs. Danforth had been employed at

Bremer's Pharmacy and McEntarfer Apothecary, both in Fredonia.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the church's

Women's Fellowship, Mary's Circle, 55'ers Club and the St. John's Quilters,

and a former member of the Helping Hands.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Robert) Babcock of Fredonia and Barbara (Robert) Adamczak of Dunkirk; one son, John III (Lori) Danforth of Sheridan; one brother, Frederick (Gloria) Kraiger of Fredonia; and grandchildren, Sean (Lorie) Morrison, John (Jami) Babcock, Patrick (Peggy) Babcock, Ryan Adamczak, Nathaniel Danforth and Audra Danforth.

Several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A. Byron Danforth, who died April 30, 1996.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Therewill be no calling hours.

Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery.
