I'm not sure if this is coincidence since all of our information does not match, but my husband's grandfather was named Antonio D'Angelo. From what we know, he left a wife in Italy. His named apparently was originally DeAngelo, but was changed to D'Angelo. He came to the U.S. perhaps because of the mafia (as stories have told) and a friend owed him a favor.
We found who we believe to be him on ellisisland.org and that information states that he last lived in Acerra and was born in 1890, arrived in U.S. in 1913. This is where our information differs. Also, he ended up settling in West Virginia, not NJ or PA. I also had found on another site that he came over with his brother Pasquale who later returned to Italy.
I do not know if this is the same Antonio, but I thought it was such a coincidence that I should reply to you!
