The Arner Family Association seeks descendants of:

MARY A. DANKEL, Victor A. Arner, 1855-1925, Lower Macungie; Allentown, Lehigh, PA.

You are almost certainly descendants of Hans Ulrich Arner and Verena Eberhard, 1735 immigrants from Switzerland to Philadelphia. Join us for an August 24-25, 2002 gathering in beautiful Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (1 hour north of Philadelphia). For “reunion” information or to see where you fit into the *rner family, visit Joe Erner’s website at www.geocities.com/~erner/gen/arner which documents the Arner/Aner family to the 1500s, or contact us through the Arner Listserv at ARNER-L@rootsweb.com. We’re planning two fun-filled days including a catered Pennsylvania Dutch luncheon and the dedication of a memorial stone in the Heidelberg Union Church cemetery to honor the immigrants. Help us widen our circle of cyber-cousins and plan to attend. We welcome you.

A few East-coast Dankels

My mother was Eledy Dankel, daughter of Robert Dankel who died in 1948. His wife was Jeanette, nee Hallahan, my grandmother. They also had a son, Edwin. His daughter, who is my cousin, lives in NY. From what I am told, he was a bigamist and had another "wife", and children with her. His grandfather was Cornelius Dankel, brother of Olaf. Cornelius was married to Georgine Nyegaard. They had four children: Ida May, Clara, Edward, and another brother whose name I do not know. Edward married Mary Louise Poole, and together had Florence and Robert, my grandfather. I have no other information, though my cousin may. If any of this sounds familiar or if you can fill in any gaps, I'd love to hear from you.

My Father Alan Frances Dankel Sr. was born & raised in Deptford, NJ. He was 1 of 11 children of Frederick William Dankel & Florence E. Selah. Frederick was born in Philly on 4/27/1898 & died on 4/26/1942 at the age of 43. His parents were Adam Dankel from PA and Amelia Seiber also listed from PA. I'm not sure if Adam & Amelia's birthplace's are correct as it is off of my Grandfather's death records.

Hi: I can't give you much info. about your grandmother, however, she was my mother's sister. My mother was Freda Dankel Hofknecht. We lived in the Cramer Hill section of Camden. I was much younger than my cousins, Aunt Anna's children. I had a wonderful relationship with Anna (Woodrow). Her oldest son and I were just a few months apart in age. He lives with his son, Raymond Woodow ( I think the 3rd) in Merchantville, NJ on Cove Road. Anna passed away about 2 years ago. I also remember Elizabeth, I believe her married name was Plummer. I have two older brothers that I will see if they can remember more helpful things. You can contact at my email address and if I find any real info for you I will send it.Your mother was the oldest daughter and named after my grandmother, Anna Dankel.
