I know of this Charles Dankert who married Anne Lauer. I have info from a Family Tree Maker CD that the marriage took place in 1890 in Manhattan. (But I don't know if the date is rounded to the nearest decade.) I have been wondering if this Charles is the brother of my ggrandfather, Frederick. The date is about right--the Charles in my family would have been 26 in 1890. I have been meaning to get a copy of the marriage certificate, to see the names of Charles' parents but haven't done so yet.

My father well remembers his grandfather and tells me that as he was growing up, there were times they referred to "the Brooklyn Dankerts" and he always assumed that they came from his grandfather's brother.

The other sibling of Charles and Frederick would have been their sister, Josephine. Since your Charles had a daughter by this name, this makes me think all the more that there is a connection. Do you know what Charles did for a living?
