Wilhelmina Dannenberg(er), German warbride around 1921

I am looking for more information on my Great-Grandmother. My Great-grandfather was in the Army from 1919-1921 and while in Germany married Wilhelmina Dannenberg (or Dannenberger, unsure). Because they married before coming back to the USA, I can only find records for her married name, Wilhelmina Pratt. She also used the name Minnie, so if anyone knows of a Minnie Pratt or Minnie Dannenberger. She was born around 1898 in the Bendorf area I believe. I believe she had an older brother Karl as well. When she immigrated to Long Island, NYC, NY she already had 1 child, Louise Pratt. Any information regarding the rest of her siblings or parents would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

William DANNENBERG - Kansas City, KS - September 1909

"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Tuesday, September 28, 1909

A Conductor, Not a Motorman.

William DANNENBERG, a street car employee said yesterday
that the report that the Kansas City, Kas., police received of
a street car accident at Fifth Street and Elizabeth Avenue
Friday afternoon was incorrect. The report stated that
DANNENBERG was the motorman of a car which struck a child.
DANNENBERG says that he was the conductor on the car.

======================================================
(I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate
knowing if you found this posting helpful.)
johnobrien@kc.rr.com
======================================================

neirbo10
Thank you for the tip, Janet.

The FamilySearch Pilot did have a death certificate for Moses Anspach, the father of Jeannette.

I think I see Jacob Dannenberg on the 1920 census in Trenton, New Jersey. The census form is very poor. He appears to be single, so perhaps he would not be buried near his in-laws, Clementine and Moses Anspach. Moses was buried in Mt. Sinai Cemetery.

Best regards,
Bonnie

The only information I have is that she was born about 1883-84 to Edward Harmon BASSETT and an unknown mother. Edward was my ggrandfather who married second, Emma TUGGEY with whom he had 5 more children.

I only know of Nellie through my late aunt who had very little information to provide to me at the time. Nellie had visited my grandparents many years ago when my aunt was a very young girl. Any other family members who would have known of Nellie have passed away.

Max, Ethel Danneberg? What happened to Max? He didn't move to Philadelphia did he? My husband's late mother was a daughter to a Max Danaberg who had an older step sister named Ethel, but they lived in Philadelphia. I know very little with this part of the family tree. All I know is that there was a first wife who disappeared (went home to Russia?)and our Max then married Lena. The spelling is very similar, in fact Danneberg was listed on some old records that I have seen also Danburg and Danburd (WWI draft registration). I know of at least 3 daughters(Ethel, Esther and Edith), and possibly (a rumor?)a son(Alex?) who left home and no one spoke about. My late mother-in-law spoke very little of her family, when I got interested in my husband's family tree, Aunt Ethel had died. I know thought that I would respond as there is a little similarity with the names and you just never know who you'll find.

Your parents were at my brother's Bar Mitzvahs and are in our albums. I live in Manhattan. Are you in touch with any of Izzy's grandkids?

Help! I know all of our Dannenberger families must be related but I cannot find the thread. My branch settled in Wood County, Ohio approx. 1870's. John D. Dannenberger b.1822, with wife Elizabeth Sarah Trautman b.1835 arrived in Ohio from Pennsylvania. These were my g-g-grandparents. There was a group of Dannenberger living in Buffalo, Erie Co., NY. about the same time They may be related but cannot find the connection.
Now, how are the other Dannenbergers related like the ones in Indiana/Illnois, the New Orleans group, Ohio group, and so on. If anyone has some information, I would really appreciate it. Take care! Dick Lehmann
rlehmann@columbus.rr.com

Looking for information on Edna Marie Cobb Dannenberg b 1918, who married a Dannenberg (first name unknown). They had a daughter named Carmen (according to Clark relatives who knew these people). They were from Louisiana and Texas.

Edna Cobb Dannenberg was daughter of Ellis James Cobb b1886 d 1940 and Willie Dee Self b 1893 d 1932. She had one brother, Tyrus Ellis Cobb Sr b 1914 d in 1942 in Avoyelles Parish, LA. (this is my family line).

Edna Marie Cobb was (1) married to Calvis or Calvin Voille Clark in 1933, they divorced and (2) she married a man FNU Dannenberg sometime before 1940. They were from Rapides Parish, LA. I have an obituary from 1940 listing Edna as Edna Dannenberg of Pineville, LA. (attached). I was told they moved to Texas later. I head stories of Mr. Dannenberg breaking his leg during Hurrican Audrey in 1957and Edna was hit by a car when she got out of the car to fix a flat while on the way to the hospital for Mr. Dannenberg's broken leg.

I am looking for anyone having any information on these people. This is a missing family line from the Cobb Family Tree. I can be emailed at TECOBBFAMILY@ cox.net. Thank you! Cindy Cobb Smiley

You've probably found your info by now, but there are Dannenbergs still in Macon, Ga. The family came there in the 1880s. Perhaps they're a branch who came to the US earlier?
I'm not related, but my grandfather lived in Macon and went to the same school as Walter Dannenberg in the teens.
Cubi, Danan, Davis, Delmar

look you all know how people change your name if yours is derived from dnn.the 1st 4 months in the air force i was DANNING , I am more possitive then ever this is what happened some Sephardic Jews were sent by the normans to administor Britian after the battle of hastings. Maybe these chose to stay and convert eventually or were forced . It doesnt matter now. but what does matter is finding out why i am E3B. and of my 48 genetic matches I have 24 askenazi matches today. and many of them trace their heritage back to jewish roots .
You all know the difficulty of tracing this name due to spelling differences.Dannen Danan Danin Dinan Dennan Danning Dinnan Dinnin Dinning Denning and the like
one was for sure proves this email me at CARADOC28@aol.com, or OllamFolla@aol.com and i would be happy to explain rootsweb doesnt like posting about it

Family Tree of Lothar Dannenberg

I have posted messages before but have not received any response as of yet.

My father's name is Lothar Bruno Dannenberg. He was born on september 23, 1934 in Danzig Germany to Katherina (Kuschel) Dannenberg and Karl Bruno Dannenberg.

My grandfather was killed in May 1934.

My grandmother died in childbirth (Brigitte) and his grandparents looked after the children for a short while. My father was taken in by a police officer and was raised with their children,

My father has been searching for years and has found through the Red Cross that he had a brother, Horst, who drowned and his youngest sister (Brigitte- the baby) was killed in an accident.

He has been in contact and has met his older sister Ingeborg (recently desceased). She was living in Lubeck Germany.

He has very recently found out that he has another sister Helga, still living in Germany (only 1/2 hr from where Ingeborg lived in Lubeck, Germany). She would be between 3-4 years older than my father. My dad has been in contact with Helga and will be meeting her for the first time this summer. Hopefully they will be able to put some of the pieces together. It is also believed there may be another brother Werner who may or may not still be alive. He may have joined the German military.

I'm not exactly sure of the order of the birth of the children however I htink it may be as follows; Werner, Helga, Ingeborg, Horst, Lothar and Brigitte.

If you have any information which you feel may help to fill in some more gaps in our family history it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for all of your help.

Anita Dannenberg

Family Tree of Lothar Bruno Dannenberg

I have posted in the past but have not received any response via this site or email.

My father's name is Lothar Bruno Dannenberg. He was born in Danzig Germany on September 23, 1934.

My father has been searching for information on his family for quite some time. He has learned from the Red Cross of his mother Katherina Kuschel and father Karl Bruno Dannenberg. His father was killed in Germany May 1934.

He is aware of a sister, Ingeborg (recently desceased), a brother Horst (I believe) who drowned. He had a younger sister (Brigitte ??) who was killed in an accident. He has since found out he has another sister, Helga, who is still alive and living in Germany. She is between 3-4 years older than he is. They have been corresponding through letters and will be meeting for the first time this summer.

It seems that there may be another brother, Werner. We are not sure if he is still living or has passed away. He may have joined the military. He would be older than my father and his other siblings.

I believe my father is the second youngest. The youngest was a girl, Brigitte (I think that's her name) and she was in an accident. His mother died in childbirth. I'm not quite sure of the order of the children but I think it is Werner, Helga, Horst, Ingeborg, Lothar, Brigitte. I am not sure if there are others.

His grandparents, not sure of their names, raised the children for a short time after their mother passed away.

He will meet his sister Helga this summer for the first time and hopefully she will be able to help fill in the gaps. We are also not sure if there are any other living relatives. If there are they would be much older.

If you have any information which you feel may help my father put together his family tree it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for you help.

Anita Dannenberg
