Margaret Simpkins passed away in 2011. She was very close to Joe when she was a lttle girl. I have an 8x10 of Joe hanging in the living room. I have a son going to VMI next year and he is interested in our family's military history.
My mother was telling me last night about remembering the day Joe's body arrived back in Bedford on the train.( He was originally buried in the UK I beleive) They had to squeeze the casket in thru the parlor window because it wouldnt fit thru the front door.
I appreciate your interest and sensitivity to the brave men that went down and thier families. Certainly was a special generation.
