My mother was born Mary Louise Danner-daughter of James Dennis Danner and Wilma L.(Dutcher) James Dennis Danner is the son of Eugene Ray Danner--I need help finding info on Eugene and James Dennis Danner's mother. I have a book that is called "I SHOULD HAVE KILLED MY BROTHER" written by James Dennis Danner's brother-Bob Danner, but I don't believe it's accurate. Please, any help you can give would be great as I cannot go back any farther in my research because I can't find anything--Thanks so much

Re: Danners of Northern Indiana

Leonard Danner was the son of Johann Danner (Tanner) and Catherine. He had brothers named George, John, Tobias, David, and Abraham, and a sister Mary. Leonard Danner lived in Augusta County, VA in the 1790's and early 1800's. I believe his wife was Caty Harmon the daughter of Peter Harmon, and they were married Oct 16 1798 in Augusta County, VA. Many of the records in Virginia have the last name as Tanner. Leonard's son Tobias Danner possibly married to Elizabeth Wagner, but this could be Leonard's brother Tobias. Tobias' son Edwin Harrod Danner married to Louisa C. Baker. Their is a record of the family from the Ohio Supreme Court case between Edwin H. Danner and Samuel Penrod filed between 1849 an 1851 that details the fact that Leonard Danner only had six children. You are correct that Tobias died first followed by John. The other children are not named but a record would exist in Shelby County, OH with respect to the land transactions noted in this court case as all the children of Leonard had to sign off on their share of the title to the land he sold in 1832 before he left for Noble County, IN and entered a tract of land in 1833. I can be reached for further information at dale.taylor@mchsi.com

Yes, I know Victoria also. We actually go to Falfurria (Spelling unsure) for my husband to dove hunt. Little below Victoria even. No, I am not a member of anything. This is just my hobby. I was very curious as to why both of Michael's parents died in 1700. Been researching what could have happened in 1700 in the Palatines of Germany. Not hard to find...war! Do you have any information on their deaths? Looks like Louis XIV of France played havac with their country and looks like it was right where they would have been. They also had a baby born in 1700 and no recorded death date on him. Maybe he too did not make it thru the year. Any ideas?

I'm south of you, in Victoria. I have a Bridewell/Danner site on Ancestry, but my file cabinets hold most of my info, what's there is primarily what's just typed onto my genelaogy program, which is not much compared to my collections. I have been donating most of my library to Clayton, as my children are not interested in my hobby. Are you perhaps a member of one of our state lineage groups?
I'd like to do my Danner line for DAR, but lack those bits of solid proof.

I hate being the bearer of bad tidings, but the Petry book is one I had and recently donated to the genealogy collection of the Clayton Library in Houston. It has a very short bit about the immigrant Michael and might have mentioned his son, I forget, but the price of the book heavy for what's in it, re Danner's. I think there was about one paragraph, or a few words over. Danner's only got a passing mention. I'm sure I'd have the copy of the page from it someplace around here, if you can still cancel your order. If not, it's a nice genealogy of Petry's.

Lacking a real document, I can't actually, really connect them, though I know all of us have the line correct. One day, hope someone will share a copy of that Danner bible with us.

If you have not gone out on the internet and asked for "Michael Danner of Hanover, PA" you might want to do it. There is so much information out there about him. Very interesting.
Me, too! I have found some church records for them, but cannot find a death date or place for either, though in Danner family someplace there is a bible record. Even having a real copy of that from the bible would make me one happy person. I've seen some typed transcripts of purported bible records, but none that are absolutely record copies of someone's bible. I wish!
I'm going to share my notes with you all.
Your Susanna, or one I think is her, is in my database, a child of Philip Danner, Sr. and Eva Albaugh. Philip, Sr. is son of Michael Danner, Immigrant and his wife Anna (Bend). Philip married Eva Albaugh, d/o Zachariah and Margaret (Buckey) Albaugh. After Philip died, she married Johan Biemer/Beamer/Beemer. She and Philip had 8 children, per my records, and Eva has none in my database from the second marriage. Don't know if she had more, or not. Philip died, I think, in Frederick Co., MD and i have a date he died 'by'. I did not know about your Susanna's birth place, so that gives me another place to check. Thanks!

The records you want and I want are possibly in both places, or strung in towns along the way. One major one between the two is Westminster, I noticed. Anyhow, food for thought and further search.

I saw another query about a Susanna on this list that mentioned that one's father was Diedrich and gave the person she had married. I do not believe that one and this one of yours/my family are the same people. Whatever is wrong with this one you have and the rest of the info on her is not so far off that it's not the same person. I think it is.

I know what you want
but if you can not find it in that complete bundle of Inf. 16 pages I sent to Brenda, I afraid your not going to find anything. In fact since I gave Brenda that Inf. I have found
the girl name listed in the 1830 census between 10 and 15
years old. She is Luncida Danner,b March 31 1818, she is William sister. She married Frederick Miller, her cousin,
his mother is Christina Danner, Peter sister. I think Brenda has my phone Number.

Danners of Northern Indiana

I am looking for Danners in Noble and Allen Counties and the surrounding area. The earliest connection to the area I have is Leonard Danner (b: abt. 1770, d: between 1840 and 1847), an original pioneer of Noble County whom settled in Perry township in 1831. He was probably born in Weissenburg township, Northampton County, PA and moved to Shelby County, OH in 1815. I have inferred 13 children (5 male, 8 female) from census data but only have definitive names of the following three:
John Danner, d: 1832, no wife or children. Died by suffocation while digging a well.
Julia Ann Danner, b: 1799, d: 14 Sep 1891. Married Andrew Houston Tomlinson 8 Jan 1835 in Elkhart county. Two children of unknown names. Lost her sight and mind and died in an asylum.
Tobias Danner, d: 1825. Married Elizabeth Unknown and had one child, Edwin H. (Herrod or Haywood) in 1824. After Tobias' death, Elizabeth remarried to Taylor Hardin and had at least two children.
I would like to find if anyone has any information on the remaining ten children.

Next is Hiram Danner (b: 17 Jul 1878), son of Valiant Tobias Danner and grandson of the previously mentioned Edwin H. Danner. He moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana before 1900 and married Martha Ellen Tilbury 22 Aug 1901.

I am also looking for the book Genealogy of the Danner Family' by George J. Spengler if anybody his information on where to find a copy.
Harve and Mary Danner were my Grandparents. They died in Fresno, CA. They are buried at Belmont Memorial Cemetary. Fresno, CA. Harve's father's name was John Danner. He died in Stockton, CA. I don't have the dates.
My Dad's name was Artie Eugene Danner. Born in Ft. Smith Arkansas. He's also dead.
You sound like you're one of Helen's kids. Helen was married to Joe Hall. They moved from San Diego, CA. to Utah, I think. Is this you? Because the rest of the grandkids I know.
Harlan Danner was my Dad's younger brother. He's also dead.
Irene, my Dad's older sister, was a Wakefield. She was married to Howard Wakefield. She's also dead.
Mildred is Dad's sister. Last I heard she's still alive.
I knew my Grandparents well and lived near them in childhood and they were the best people you could know.
If you need more information just ask.
This is my wife's account.

NANCY DANNER BORN ABT 1780-90, DIED ABT 1849 AL, MARRIED TO HENRY J. BLACK BORN ABT 1778 VA, DIED ABT 1870 AL

The purpose of this query is to find evidence of the marriage of Nancy Danner born about 1780-1790 and Henry J. Black.

Nancy may have married Henry J. Black in Lincoln County, GA according to one Interenet posting. I have communicated with the historical society there who have access to all exisiting public records for the time period (1800-1804). They can verify no record of a marriage between these individuals. Also tax and census records were checked and no Danners were found before or after the possible marriage time frame, except for one in the 1830 census who is not a match, and way too late to be the parents of the Nancy central to this query.

Since Henry came from VA the Danners may have been there too. I find no other record of the Blacks in GA, but do in AL where Henry J. Black and Nancy Danner settled.

I have never found a marriage for them in AL either. I have not looked in VA yet, as I thus far don't have a clue about the county in which the Blacks may have lived, nor the names Henry J. Black's parents.

-----------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------

The second purpose of this query is to dentify the parents of the Nancy Danner in question.

I found a 42 page Danner family genelaogy published in 1940 that begins with three brothers who migrated from Germany to PA in 1749. The granddaughter of one is named Betsy Nancy Danner, but she was born too late to have been the Nancy who married William J. Black.

The descendancy from the oldest person in the 1940 Danner genelaogy goes:

Melchior Danner 1723 Germany -1808 PA
Abraham Danner 1765 PA -1815 PA
Betsy Nancy Danner born PA died unknown, no marriage listed

The Nancy Danner above is listed as the 4th born of 6, after a sibling with a birth year of 1804.The only earlier birth year given occured in 1800.

Yes, the order in which these children were listed could be incorrect. Four of them including Betsey Nancy Danner have no birth or death dates. However, from the overall format used by the researcher, there is a pattern of listing undated births in the most logical order based on other types of documents.

Using the information available our Nancy Danners' birth year fell between 1780-1790. Too early to reasonably be a sibling of the children belonging to Abraham listed above.

So next I wondered if perhaps our Nancy was an unidentified daughter of Melchior. but that does not work , as all of his known children were born much too early to be compatible under any stretch of the imagination with our Nancy's birth years.

For Danner and Black researchers of this line, there is evidence found in an old family letter that Henry J. Black's mother's was name was Mary, last name unknown.

If the Danner or Black surnames, their given names, or allied surnames listed here are of interest to you, in VA, AL, or FL (Sumter County), please contact me to compare and share genealogical data, photos, family stories, and SOURCES.

I look forward to learning about your twig of the tree.

Please respond to this email address:
flastep3@att.net

It will help me to better track our emails if you would include your full name, mailing address, and a phone number. I receive many research related messages daily and don't want to miss following up on one from you.

Next, if you will type into the body of your email a simple list of names only, starting with your oldest known ancestor and their spouse, down to yourself that would help me to do a better job of indentifying material I may have that would be of interest to you.

Blessings,
Claudia Newell
5698 Wolf Creek Drive
Jacksonville, FL 32222
(904) 771-9340

Hi Bud - I'm working with Brenda K. - I think you know her. She's a distant cousin of mine. She's done tons of work, and I'm following what she's done. We're trying to find the proof that Wm. is the son of Peter for the DAR. We have the census record that showed another child, but the DAR doesn't have a record of him and wants some physical link. We need a Bible record or some document from Surry that links the two. It's the only thing that is missing. Thanks for all of your help, BTW.

I'm looking for birth information on William Danner born abt. 1819 in Surry, N. Carolina, died 1854-1886, Overton, TN. Our history shows he was the son of Peter Danner, but we have been unable to find proof.
