Zephir Dansereau is my great grandpa. He married Mary G. Lenaghan. Thats all I know of about that. He is from my mom's side and I do not know much at all about my mom's side. The only other thing that I can say about poppa Zephir Dansereau is that he lived in RI or someplace close to RI because I am born and raised in RI

I am not sure this query is still open but I will add what I know. My Mom remembers Prime. He was her Mother's uncle. My Mom's grandmother was Marie(Mary) Racine (Louis,Edwidge Chagnon) and she also married a Dansereau in Pittfield Ma. She married Alphonse Dansereau whose brother was Prime. The daughter Irene died at about 14 just as my Mom was born. Stella never married and had something wrong with her leg. She worked at Berkshire Life. Margarite married. Barbara Bradway

Hello,

I don't know if this is a connection or not. In my family there was a Henri/Honroe Dansereau, born to a Francois Xavier Dansereau. I have it listed as Francois being married to a Melina Grenier and not a Rose as you previously listed. I don't have any info on who Henri/Honroe married but perhaps this is a link. He would have most likely been born in the early 1880s.

You can try searching for information free on http://www.familysearch.org

Hi,
I am looking for information on my grandmothers family. Her name is listed in the 1930 census as Rosalie, but I have heard her called Rose and Marie or RoseMarie, she had 3 brothers - Napoleon, Joseph, and Louis & also 3 sisters - Mary Anna (or Anna), Christina (called Chris) and Louise. Louis and Louise were twins. My grandmother was born around 1917. Rosalie married Francis Menard and had 5 children.

I am specifically looking for information on her parents, I have no names for them and all I know is they died between 1922 and 1930.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

hi:

have recently done some research on my grandfather charles joseph dansreau. i suspect that the charles joseph dansreau is not related. the research i did regarded his father who was born in canada, immigrated to manchester, mass and in the 1880's moved to peabody mass. charles joseph dansreau had one brother named wilfred dansreau.

now there is mention of a charles dansreau in pittsfield in 1893, possibly this might be related to your quest but i suspect it is not the charles dansreau born in 1879.
there is mention in the worchester police blotter about a charles dansreau who apparently also lived in connectuit.

i have found in searching records that mispellings of the family name are common, (dancereau, dansro, dansreau, dansereau). because of some city clerk not doublechecking what he was doing my grandfathers gravestone is spelled DANSRO.

best wishes and good luck.

charlie

Hi:

Charles Joseph Dansreau was my Grandfather. He was born i believe in Montreal in 1879 and his parents immigrated in 1980.
i know that for some time they were in another town in Massachusetts but later settled in Salem Mass. I'm pretty certain that he was there during WW1 and WW2. He had two sons and a daughter(Wilfred, Raymond and Alice). he married Angela Pelliter.

i believe he was born to Charles Dansreau who was born sometime around 1850. on some forms he had listed "north suckly, canada" as place of birth and i have not been able to place this anywhere.

Anyway, please email me at cdansreau@gmail.com and maybe we can swap some information.

FYI, i had attended the university of massachusetts in amherst, mass from 1972 to 1976 and had a neighbor in south amherst named Dansereau?

regards,

Charles Dansreau
Thank you so much for this information. It is much appreciated. My suspicion, however, is that John's father is not "Cherry" Dansereau, but in fact "Jerry" Dansereau. His mother was Alphonsine (??). Allie---Ella---- with translation issues, could have been most anything!! John was my mother-in-law's father by his common law wife, Margaret Davis. It's an interesting family!! Thank you again.

Priscilla Sayward

I am so happy to hear from you!!! I was beginning to think I was the only one interested in info on this particlar branch of the Dansereau's. I DO have some info on John. He was my husband's grandfather. He had a common law marriage with Margaret Ellis that produced one child, Lillian, who was my mother in law. He was something of a rascal at best. Margaret had three children through a previous relationship and all four children and Margaret lived in an abusive household. There was no love lost between Lillian and her father. Margaret died when Lillian was 16 and she was removed from the household for her own safety the day her mother was buried. She never spoke to him again.

According to information I have from John's death certificate, he was born in East Douglas, MA in 1882, his parents were Jerome and Alphonsine Dansereau. To confuse the issue even more, we have paperwork from Canada that seems to indicate that Jerome and Alphonsine had a daughter, Marie Emma, born 3 weeks before John's alleged birth date, but in Bagot County, Quebec!!! It was found while doing research in the FrenchAmerican Library in Woonsocket, RI. I have never been able to find any record of John's birth.

Some of John's information (written in his own hand) gives his name as John Peter, some John Phillipe. Some indicate his mother was Alphonsine and in one instance is listed as "Rose". Alphonsine died in 1939 and is buried in a common grave at Precious Blood church cemetery in RI. I have not been able to locate any information on Jerome at all. I am aware of the two sisters, Rosilda and Octavie. The information on the death certificate and funeral home information was given by a J. B. Boiteau, whom I have learned was either his brother in law or his nephew.

I would dearly love to know if you have any info on what happened to Jerome. I also understand that John may have had another daughter with a woman named Agnes (?) named Natalie. I have no info on her.

I anxiously await your response

ptsmickey1@msn.com

I have no info on the decendants of John Philippe (this is how I have the name). I have two sisters for him, however: Rosilda, b. 9 Nov 1877 in St Hyacinthe, m. John (Joseph?) Boiteau; and Octavie, b. 17 Dec 1878 in St Damase. If you find his marriage and descendants, I would be interested in knowing.

I am looking for a Dansereau connection for my husband's family. I have the generations from Bastien Dansereau and Catherine Noel through Jerome and Pelagie Chagnon in 1841. They had a son Jeremie(2) who married Alphonsine Leclerc in 1877 on St Hyacinthe le Confesseur. From there things get a little murky. Alphonsine died in Rhode Island in 1939. She was listed as the widow of Jerome. I cannot find what happened to Jerome (Jeremie). I am not sure that Jerome and Jeremie are even the same person!! Ostensibly they had a child, John Peter (some say Philippe) born in East Douglas, Massachusetts in March, 1882. I have Canadian records that show Jerome and Alphonsine had a girl, Marie Emma in February, 1882 in St. Libertoire. Do you have any information on Jerome (2). Thank you for any help or directin you can give me.

I am looking for ancestors & descendants of Pryme (Prime) Dansereau who lived in Holyoke, MA ca. 1910 - 30. He was married to a Racine, daughter of Louis Joseph Racine & Edwidge Chagnon. They had 3 daughters: Stella & Marguerite were 2 of the names. These daughters would have been born 1915 - 25. Their mother may have been Zoe Racine, or Julia Racine or Edwidge Racine. Any clues would be appreciated.

I am looking for any info on the family of Zoe Dansereau, born 1850 in Canada. By 1872 she was living in RI and married to Olivier Pion. Their kids were Mederise, Noe (my gr. gr. grandpa), Joseph P., Delvina, and Delo.

She turns up on one census record as "Josie," but everywhere else (and according to family) she was named Zoe. There is a slim chance her mother was Anastasie, and sisters Cordelia and Arzelie and brother Pierre - that's just a guess though, as that family is listed living next door to her and her husband on a census record, and are the only other Dansereaus in the town at the time, and the dates fit the ages.

Thanks!
I have several Dansereau's in my family line and as for Rose Alma, at one time her full name was probably Rose Alma Renaud dit Blanchard. In the 1860-1875 period they either dropped the Renaud or they dropped the Blanchard. Do you have any dates or approximate dates to work with as I am doing quite a bit of research in the St. Hyacinthe and Bagot Co. areas of Quebec and will keep an eye our for this family. Particular since Valmore is a very uncommon name and I have a Valmore Renaud dit Blanchard in my line.
Roger

I'VE DONE EXTENSIVE GENEALOGICAL WORK ON MY FAMILY NAME. I'VE GOT DATA ON LEGAL DOCUMENTS AND POSSIBLE INFO ON A TRANSACTION IN FRANCE ON BASTIEN (PIERRE'S FATHER) FOR 1500'S IN FRANCE. MY E-MAIL MIGHT REQUIRE ALTERATION TO "RRCC" TO WORK. PLEASE REPLY.

Do you have any information further back than Napoleon? How about some of the wives' names.

I hope someone can help me. I am looking for information on my grandfather Albert Francis Dansereau. He was born around 1910. The only info I know is that he lived in Portland ME and married Hazel Auburn. My mother (Jean) was their first born in 1933. They moved to CT when she was around 5yrs old. Albert and Hazel divorced around 1944. He had caught TB (tuburcolosis)and moved back to Maine right after the divorce. I do not know if he had any siblings or his parents name.
