In the Quebec Vital and Church Records(Druin Collection)1621-1967-Mathilde Daoust married Joseph Dufresne Aug. 30-1879 in Buckingham. Domathilde(as she signed) is said to be the daughter of Late Joseph Daoust and late "blank-not name".

Her witness appears to be "P. Limoges".

Don't know who P.Limoges is.
Mathilde had a sister and other family members in Buckingham.My father being 89 can't remember his grandmother Mathilde's sisters name.

Does any of this sounds familiar?

Dna test was of no use.My fathers mother was Swedish.It was his fathers mother(Mathilde Daoust)that Canadian Indian.
Mathilde Daoust married Joseph Dufresne Aug. 30,1879 in Buckingham,PQ.Domithilde (as she signed) is said to be the daughter of Late Joseph Daoust and late "blank-not named".

On the marriage record, does it say who the parents or any relative of Joseph Dufesne may be? My geneology search seems to end here.Mathilde Daoust,Joseph's wife was thought to be Native American,and her parentage on the record is partially missing.

Hello, I would love to hear from anyone connected with the Buckingham area Daoust family. My grandmother was Matilda (Domathilde) Philammine Daoust. Her father was Edmond and her mother I believe Chenier. They came down to Tupper Lake NY around the 1905. She married Amedie Dupre and can find no information about him. He also had a brother Arthur. I found an Emery Daoust, but there is no mention of Hermenegilde as a sibling, and although his marriage is around the same time (1873) he is not married to an Emma, so probably not a match, but during my research Emery has not been a name I have seen so I thought I would mention it.

I might have a connection to this line. All of this is really confusing to me, but do you know what the marriage year of the parents was. I have a different spelling for Guilliaume Daoust and his wifes name is different but similar to what you put. The name I have is Angelique Deschamps and they were married in 1811. Could this possibly be the same couple?

"Frank Corbett to Laura Daoust June 15"

I've done a few searches for Frank Corbett born in ND, as Genevieve's 1910 census says, but haven't found him yet. Will keep looking and let you know if I identify him more solidly.

D'Aoust - Watters connection

Does anyone have information as to the D'Aoust(Dault) and Watters(Waters) family connection? On my grandfathers birth certificate from 1896 in Gouverneur, New York, his mother's name appears as Agnes Daoust. My uncles say that her name was Waters, they have produced a picture of Agnes and her siblings, on the back of the picture the names are clearly written as Waters. I am confused at this and would really appreciate any kind of help.

Well I can tell you that I am your cousin. Rose D'aoust of the Daoust's from Valleyfield Canada were all relatives of mine. My grandfather Joseph Henry (Hank) Daoust and his family came to America from Valleyfield and some of our family members still live in the Valleyfield area.

Hank my grandfather came from a very large family with sibblings Emile, Ashamee, Stanesilous, Charles, Wilfred, Alice and I would have to think of more. I am also not sure of the spellings of the names at the moment.

Hank married Edith Bourdon and they gave birth to my dad Ronald Joseph Daoust, Paul Norman Daoust and two sisters.

My dad spent a lot of his young life in Valleyfield on the farms that were there in the early 1940-60's. I loved going to Uncle Emile's farm who grew all his own food and had a tabacco farm also.

I started doing something of a family tree way back when and I found Paul and Robert Daoust who were very helpful. Our annsisters go back to Guilliam Daoust from France. Our sirname comes from the Oust River in France.

My fathers grand mother,Mathilde Daoust,was Indian.He never new what tribe she was from.Mathilde Daoust married Joseph Dafrasne(Dufresne)between 1872-1879 in Buckingham,Quebec.My father had a Native American Dna test done.We are waiting results.It is the female lineage test,so we will know where her family originated.

I have found our Daoust/Seguin ancestors! Alexandre was born at St-Joseph, Les Cèdres, Québec on January 18, 1831 - birthdate confirmed in the 1901 Census of Canada (see attached). His parents were Alexis Daoust & Louise Pigeon. His death record age at death does not match up with his 1831 birthdate, but the 1901 Census confirms it to be in 1831.

My great-grandfather, Philias Boileau changed his name from Boileau to Watters. He was married to Philomene Daoust. They were married at St. Andrew's West, Ont. in 1875. The area was mostly English and the townspeople could not pronounce "Boileau" so they changed it to Watters (trying for a close translation; Boileau meaning to "drink water.") One of their daughters, Maria-Celina married Louis LaBrake and settled in the Potsdam & Brasher Falls, NY area. Email me if you would like to discuss a possible connection. madiklein@comcast.net

The obituary was sent to me by my cousin, but as of a few minutes ago no longer works. When I copied it it was on CANOE. The subject of the obituary was my mother's sister. Tante Olive was a descendent of the Daoust/Lalonde families.

Beloved Wife of the late Raymond Daoust. Loving mother of Anne Marie Daoust of Montreal, Hector Daoust (Julie) of Toronto, Bernard Daoust of Kingston, and Steven Daoust of Fredericton, N.B.
