I am researching Darby relatives who are connected to Joseph Darby and Ann Farnell 1814-1863 They had 7 children that I know of James,George,Joseph Jr,John,William,Charles and Sarah. Joseph Darby remarried in 1857 to Ann Dodd. I am directly related from Joseph's son Charles Darby 1847-1891 who married Elizabeth Ireland and had 6 children George,Frederick,Amy,Florence,Ada and Charles Harry. Of those 6 only 2 came to the USA in 1908, Frederick and Charles Harry. All the rest stayed in UK. Iam looking for any info about them. Would like to find present relatives.
Please contact me at debbiedonlon@yahoo.com
Thanks

Betsy and Martin were husband and wife. Chester, who was married to Susan Welch, is the son of Martin and Betsy. The only thing I know about Susan's relatives are her and Chester's children's names, which I got from census listings starting in 1870. I believe she married Chester in Flushing, Michigan, although I have not been able to find a marriage record. They lived on the family farm in Flushing with Martin and Betsy, and as far as I can tell, lived on that family farm until their deaths. I have not had any luck in tracing their children once they left home.

I ran across a reference to a Martin Darby on www.findagrave.com. I believe he is the Unknown Darby in Flushing Cemetery, Genesee County, Michigan. The listing for Betsy in the same cemetery says she was the wife of Martin. Martin's grave is right beside Susan Ann Welch Darby's grave. Do you know if they are related? Susan is my GGGrandmother (she was married to Chester C Darby who is buried on the other side of her). Maybe you can find some more information on what you're looking for from this. If you have any information on Susan's ancestors or relatives, I would appreciate that also.

Thank you for that info on Martin and Betsy being Chester's parents. I don't know much about most of their children. Here's what I can tell you.

Estella "Stella" Eleanor Darby married Elmer F Davenport on Oct 16 1901. They had only one child (my grandmother), Frieda Mae Davenport, born Sep 17 1904, died Apr 23 1980, of cancer, in El Cajon, San Diego County, California. She is buried in El Cajon Cemetery. She married Harold George Williams (born Nov 27 1902, died Feb 10 1975, of complications from influenza, including pneumonia, congestive heart failure, and heart attack, in Florence, Lauderdale County, Alabama, buried in Greenview Memorial Cemetery, Florence, Lauderdale County, Alabama) on May 16 1928, in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. They had only one child (my mother, still living). And I am an only child also (just an interesting fact). All this information came from my mother.

Clarence Darby married Lena ? and they had a daughter named Garnet. My mom thinks Garnet died from falling through the ice. Sorry no dates on any of that.

Virginia "Jennie" Darby married ? Hawn and had a son named Clarence. Clarence Hawn married Marie ? first, and then Mary ?. Clarence and Marie had at least one daughter, and I don't think Clarence and Mary had any children. Virginia "Jennie" Darby married ? DeWitt after ? Hawn. I don't know if there were any children from that marriage.

Hope this helps in your search!

I am seeking information on the children/parents of the Darbys who appear as the head's of families in the 1790 census. Most of them are centered around Orford Township, with one appearing in Lyme. I am looking for a father of a Nathan Darby who was born in 1779 and migrated to Canada (Ely Township, to be specific).

The names I need more information on are:

Nathaniel Darby (Lyme Township)

Jonathan Darby
Jonathan Darby Jr.
Pollas Darby
Simeon Darby (all of Orford Township)

I have ruled out both Abijah and Ezra Darby as potential candidates.

I have much information on the family line back to its arrival in Maryland. You should obtain the book "All About Darbys." It has great detail on the family history, including their journeys to Oregon.

We have been working on a project involving the identification of Civil War veterans from our area. Philip Darby is one of those veterans. He served in the 145th Infantry Regiment of the New York Volunteer Army. The records we have indicate that he moved to Highlands, NJ from Farmingdale, NY. They also indicate that he is the father of Abbie, born in April 1882.

If we can assist you in filling in any of your research gaps, or if you have information to share, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you very much,
Serena Brochu
Darby -Derbyshire,Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Birmingham,UK

Thanks
