U.S. Census > 1910 United States Federal Census > Idaho > Shoshone > Burke > District 249

Peter J. Ireland Census says he arrived in US in 1882, and was naturalized in Lead City, Lawrence, Dakota Territory; and died aft 1915 in Burke, Shoshone, Idaho. Peter also worked in the mine.
Peter had a sister named Ann 'Annie' b. 1857 Ireland, who also lived in Lead City, Lawrence, Dakota Territory as well, but I have lost her either from death or by getting married which always changes a woman's name which makes the mystery a little deeper and harder to solve.

Elizabeth Bessy Lizzie Waters
Lizzie (wife) age 49 b. 1861 Ireland father b. Ireland mother b. Ireland either she arrived or was also naturalized in 1882, but the federal marshal failed to place any information within this slot...(I'd see if she had naturalization papers too from Burke County, Idaho) She noted that she had had eight children, all of whom were thriving today in 1910.
She noted that she had been married for 24 yrs = married in 1886. d. She died sometime after 1920 living with her two younger sons (below) in Cobert, Spokane, Washington.

This couple had seven children;

(1)Mary Darcey b. 20 Aug 1889 Wardner, Shoshone, Idaho
d. 'Peta' Darcey b. 30 Apr 1892 Wardner, Shoshone, Idaho d. Sep 1966 Seattle, King, Washington
(4)James M. But my great-great grandfather William Dorsey was born in Camp Springs, MD in 1829. A cousin, Rosa Day, was living with his daughter, according to the 1900 DC census.

I saw your information on Rootsweb. My question is do you know when Lucy Vermillion died? I am attempting to find my great-great grandparent William B. Dorsey (born in Maryland - 1829) and his parents, through the process of elimination. I strongly feel that he was born in PG County, because he, his wife (Mary M. Stone), and oldest son are buried at a Forrestville Cemetery (according to death certs). Also, I think his wife is in the 1850 census in PG county with her parents George and Harriet Stone. William and Mary lived most of their married life in DC.

A PG county census, Spaulding District, for 1850 lists a:

Jno Darcey 40
Ann Darcey 23
Wm Darcey 20
Jno Darcey 16

I don't know if this is the John who was married to Lucy V. or someone else.

Also, where is the Darcey homestead? I never heard of that before. Thanks.

Reisa

Lee, you are a dear for sharing this information with me! I've been trying to locate information on him but got bogged down with life and have not been able to contact the historic society in Montgomery County. I had heard my aunt mention a Goldsmith. My grandfather, Frank Darcey had an extra middle name put in of Croswaithe. The mystery there is that some other family wanted to raise him and rather than to say yes, they added the name there. Hmmm. You wouldn't know William Darcey's parents name, would you? I heard that he was a farmer. We've never been able to trace him back to coming into the country. Either he or his father was thought to have come over. Do you have the year of death for William Darcey? He is the one who owned and operated the Darcey Store in Bethesda? His son, William Zachariah Darcey (1858-1939), if I remember correctly, painted the White House one time. Thank you for your time. Denise
I attempted to email you but the address was returned. We are connected! It is so cool. I have that Ada Elizabeth married William Zachariah Darcey (1858-1939) and they had children: Frank Baldwiin, Lewis, William, Buck, Eva, Goldie and Nora. I knew Eva, goldie and Nora. Goldie died not too long ago. I have a few stories my aunt has shared with me written down. If you want any, let me know. she is the only 'memory' of the family. Goldie had a family Bible but when she died, it disappeared. It has all kinds of information in it I hear. she coveted it greatly and would not share. The secretative aspect of this family! Frank Baldwin is my grandfather. His son is Frank Baldwin, Jr. and my brother is Frank Baldwin, III. I'd like to have Ada's death date and her mother's name. Actually, even her grandparents and all. Do you have any information on William Darcey, parent of William Zachariah?
Thank you for responding. i'm at starboy@citcom.net

Thomas Darcey 1861

I am looking for solid information on this Thomas Darcey. All I have to go on right now are old guessed at pedigree charts.
Thomas Darcey was born in England (most likely Lancershire) in the year 1861 (this from his tombstone). His father by family pedigree chart is listed as John Darcey, born abt. 1840. (nothing definite here), mother unknown.
Thomas was married in England to Sarah Smethurst/ Smetherst (b.27 dec 1858, d. 1 jan 1904)
of the children he had,Elinor, Louisa, James william, Emma, and Herbert, some were born in England and some in Salt Lake City, Utah.
By the dates of these births he appearantly moved from England to Salt Lake City between 1882 and 1887. He died in 28 sept 1893.
James William is my Great Grandfather, making Thomas my Great-Great Granfather. I have birth listings for 2 Thomas Darcey's for that year, but cant tie them in solidly. one of them has a father named Edward instead of John, and the other's father was dead by the 1881 cencus leaving a widow named Mary M. Darcey

Don't know about where his Dad came from or where he was before the homestead in Maryland. My william went on to open a general store with his family duing the Civel war in what is now Bethesda Maryland. Any connection?

Re: Thomas Darcey 1861

Just an update:
I've narrowed things down a bit. Thomas Darcey was born between 1857 and 1861, Census shows age for 1857, death record shows age for 1861. The news article about his death lists a sister, who when I trach her down is Hannah Darcey Robinson. Married to John Robinson. Hannah was born in 1847 and migrated to America in 1877 following her husband. Thomas, his wife, and child came from England in 1885. He had several more children in Utah. The death record for Thomas Darcey lists father as John Darcey and Mother as Jane Darcey. Where other deaths in that record listed place of birth as simply England, or Ireland, for Thomas it listed Macclesfield, Cheshire, England. There is also a church record listing a David Darcey about the same age as Thomas and with the same congregation, perhaps a brother. still investigating that.

Thank you for answering so promptly.
My William was the son of James and Jane Darcy of Leeds UK. they had three sons William b 1827 James b 1829 and Thomas b 1832.William married Mary Delaney in 1846 in Leeds, James is my g grandfather hr came to Australia Thomas I don't know. I found a record. of William Martin Delaney {his father-in-law] and Martins two sons immigrating to US on The president in 1851 so if you have tracked your William from the age of 14yrs he can't be the one.I thought it was worth following up as the birth year was the same
