Hi, Julie. I do have a John Dardis as a son of Michael, but I know absolutely nothing about him. Michael and his children immigrated to the US about 1835-1840. They first settled in NYC and later moved to Dupage CO, IL in 1850. They then moved back to NYC where the son of Michael, Patrick, was killed by a runaway horse. Patrick's wife and children then traveled back to Chicago by Anne (the wife) working as a cook for the men building the railroad. She and her children cooked and lived in the caboose of the train as the track was laid. The family moved to Paris twp, Howard Co, IA by 1860 and Anne ran a boarding house. My part of the family moved to Minnesota in 1896. Do you know anything about the brothers and sisters of Dardis?
