H. R. Daringer

Looking for parents names, dates of birth and death, names of children (if any), and/or subsequent wives for a Mr. H. R. Daringer. He was married to Viola Mae “Ola” Lookingbill (b. 1898; daughter of Joe Lookingbill and Judy Miller Lookingbill) by January 1928 when they lost a child (stillborn) in Houston, Texas. H. R. and Viola were also living in Houston at the time of her death in January 1933, but I have had no luck fiding the couple in the 1930 census, in Houston or elsewhere. I am not aware if the couple had any other children. From the stillborn son's Texas death certificate, H. R. was born in Illinois. (H. R. signed the dearh certificate, so that is presumably accurate.) Have found no death certificate or SSDI entry that can be positively IDed as this gentleman.

Any information or suggestions appreciated.
Daringer of Muskingum and Morgan County OHIO

Am searching for any info on father's family. His grandma was Anna Daringer who married a Charles Brown. They lived across the Helmick Mill covered bridge that crosses Island Run in Morgan County Ohio. (I understand their home area is owned by a family named Swingle now). Anna and Charles had children Goldie Viola, Alonzo, and Edna. I THINK that Anna's family may have worked at or ran a hotel in Cannelsville in Muskingum County (Brush Creek township). I don't know Anna's parents names, but their are 2 Daringers in the Old German cemetery which is between Cannelville and Deavertown. Would love info on family , or history of hotel!

Re: William Harvey Daringer

I know its been a while since the last posts on here, but I just ran across it. Emma Andererson, daughter to Joseph Daringer is my fathers mothers mother. Emmas daughter's name was Vivian Elizabeth Anderson/Helm/Avis. My father is John Lloyd Helm. I know Vivian had at least one brother, Russel. I would love to learn more about the Daringer family. Does any one here know what Joseph's parents names were or if he had any siblings. I think he had a brother Theodore, and I believe two sisters (if my info is correct.) I'm not sure. When my grandmother died my dad got a few pics out and one of them says it a pic of Joseph Daringer along with his parents two sisters and a brother Theodore. I also have a picture with Joseph, Martha, Lucy, and Emma. After reading through the posts it seems I have relatives right here in Cedar Rapids where I live. Any help with this would be grateful.
Please Email me MargaritaGirl5@hotmail.com
Andrea

Re: Daringer/Rayl

I suspect that your Daringers are a line from the family who moved to the US in 1754 aboard the John and Elizabeth from Ingolsheim, Alsace. There was a John Darendinger and his son and families. The name has been transmuted many ways including to Dardinger in one case. My line of Dardingers, however, came from Switzerland in the mid 1800s, though they may well be related back in Europe with the earlier immigrants.

If you can find "Eighteenth Century Emigrants from the Northern Alsace to America" by Annette Kunselman Burgert it has some information about them. Or you can write to me direct and I'll see if I can help.

Carroll and Jess Daringer relatives

<< I guess you are my Aunt Alie??? My Dad is Carroll Ray Daringer >>

Umm.. my Mother's Dad was Carroll's brother Jess. I'm guessing we are second cousins? Anyway, definite kin. :)

<< I just put in Dad's name to see if he would come up on the web. >>

Isn't it cool what you can find on the web, these days? My own Dad shows up in the KY Death Index of RootsWeb or something. Kinda freaky, as he died only (?) ten years ago.

<< I hope that your search is going along smoothly. I for one don't have a clue where to even start hunting down the family tree..... >>

You could start by e-mailing me -- my address is MiniAlie@aol.com -- and we can exchange info. You can update me on the doings/family of Toots/Tex :) and tell me what info you've got. I can give you what I have on the Daringer-Carey lines, plus what Mom and the girls are up to, these days. I can also give you some good websites in which to look for stuff...

<< I was in Texas this past June and saw that Mom has some old pictures on the wall, I asked about them and she said someone was working on the family tree and sent her copies of these old pictures. >>

Pictures -- did she tell you who they were? I'm always interested in putting a face to the name on a page, you know.

And who else in the Daringer family is doing research? As far as I knew, there was JoAnn Brown, Martha Williams (related by marriage only a half dozen gens back), and one other, whose name I can't remember.

<< I remember meeting Uncle George once and Uncle Norman at the DMV when I was 16 >>

I gather then, that you weren't able to go to my Grandpa Jess' funeral in Nov '98, either? Mom went, but I couldn't get away.

<< I'm turning 40 in May! >>

What a milestone! I'm 40 now (birthday in April), and I still feel about 19 a good bit of the time. ;)

Nice to "meet" you, Sue!

Alie Jo

JoAnn,

Tell me/us more about your James Daringer. Is he the James Robert Daringer mentioned in my post? Even if he isn't, the more info you can give, the more certain others can be whether your James matches theirs, and thus, the more likely they will write to you.

Good hunting!

Alie
E-mail: MiniAlie@aol.com

Ooops, made a mistake, George was not the youngest, he was born in the middle somewhere. Just talked with him on the phone. As I mentioned I don't have any records here to verify anything so I'll be quiet until then.

Dennis in Seattle, strlgtngl@qwest.net
