Hi Roger

I hope I'm not going to open up a can of worms here.....

Grace's sister, Wilhelmina (1890-1985), had a daughter Joan (1920-2003), which she passed up for adoption to the Renshaw family. Joan was my mother. We only uncovered all the adoption papers, birth certificates etc, after she died.
We've never managed to discover who the father was, but it was always whispered that she fell pregnant by some well-to-do chap (roll on the 1921 Census!).

So, Grace is my Great-Grandmother!

As I say, I know it's along time ago now, but my family had always wanted to find out who our "real" grandfather was.

If you would like to see any of the historical documents, out of interest, let me know.

My tree on ancestry.co.uk is "Kent and Sussex Wenham's"

Thanks for the info though, I hadn't got Samuel in my tree - I found it a little tricky with the alternate spellings of the surname. Any corrections will be greatly received!

Regards

Nick
