      <description>Another spelling is Dare with an accent over the "e".  The Darres in Nova Scotia originated with a Nicholas Dare who settled here in 1752 with a shipload of German Protestants.  They settled in Lunenburg (recently declared a World Heritage Site by the UN) where the German culture is still evident.  Nicholas gave his state of origin as Montbeliard .  The name has evolved into Dory in Lunenburg but is spelled and pronounced Darres alsewhere in Nova Scotia</description>

      <description>My granfather was born in Antwerp Belgium. I wonder if there&lt;br&gt;is any other Darris's out there that would have some sort of knowledge&lt;br&gt;of the original spelling of this name. I know he entered the U.S Through Ellis Island&lt;br&gt;I am trying to trace this down but cannot find it because of the spelling..</description>
