Y-DNA

If you are a male DART/DARTE/DORT/DARTT please do the Y-DNA test. It is painless and quick. Yes, it does cost but it is on sale now at a good price. For those of us that are missing a generation because the records were burned, lost, or just never recorded; this would be a HUGE help! Especially if you are descended from the New York, Mass., New Hampshire, or Vermont Darts. Some of us can't connect up with the Bolton Book for various reasons and are on bended knew asking for help. As soon as I get back the results my husband's test, I will post it. Thanks

Nathan/Otsego co. N.Y>

Is anyone else having trouble connecting up with this book? What I have is on One World Tree, however, because I can't find a birth/death record I can't get back to that next generation. So here I have all this research which might connect up with someone else and can't publish it. Therefore, here is what might be: In the 1800 census there are 3 Nathans: 2 in Otsego co., N.Y (father/son?) 1 in Washington co.N.Y.(with father Roswell?). In 1810 we have 3 Nathans in Otsego co. and 1 in Washington co. 1820 only 1 in Genesee co., and a Harvey in Otsego. 1830 finds a Nathan in Chautauqua co. and Otsego. So, what to make of this? One Nathan dies (maybe two) and one moves to Chautauqua co. Nathan (Chautauqua) has sons: Russell, Theron, James, Freeman, daughters: Diadama and Abigail (can't prove any of it). Nathan moves with son Russell first to Erie co. Pa where he dies. Russell continues on to Wisconson as does Theron. James moves to Ohio then Michigan as does Abigail. Freeman stays in N.Y. Cattaragus co. Has anyone else come up with this senerio or connect to any of these Darts?
Reply Report Abuse Print

It is complicated. My Darte ancestors were Belgian, but moved to France where they made porcelain. English Dartes may be a variant spelling of DART, or may have originated in France or Belgium.

Darte / Dart surname

I am related to a Darte ( sometimes spelled Dart or Dartt also )family from Ny state .
They originated in England..around Devon I believe...and some of them moved to America in the 1600's . Mine are from around in Connecticut.

The name, from what I've heard , has something to do with the name of a River in Devon.

Check out the Dart forum. The Dart and Dartt families are still the Darte family. Even close relations used these variations.

You can email me at sookie3@visto.com
