Emily Darwin born Kapunda South Australia related to naturalist Charles Darwin

I'm trying to trace the birth and parents of Emily Darwin born around 1869 in Kapunda, South Australia. She was allegedly the great niece of the naturalist Charles Darwin. She married Arthur Edgar Beilby between 1891 and 1901 in South Australia, then travelled to the UK on her honeymoon where she lived for the rest of her life.
Any information which would help link her to Charles Darwin would be of great help to me. Thanks.

Norman,

Elizabeth Hulme (c1834) who married James Darwen c1833, was the daughter of Nancy Hulme, who in the Mar Qtr 1939 ref 21 67, married Thomas Taylor. In the 1841 census she was listed as Betsey Hulme and in the 1851 census Elizabeth Taylor. In Australia on the birth certificate records of her children she was known as either Elizabeth Hume or Taylor.

Thomas Darwen 1845, married Ellen Ridyard in the Sep Qtr 1869, the actual record in Ancestry shows ref 8c 391, but when you look at the original sheet it is 8c 394, which is the same for Ellen Ridyard. As I said earlier they went to Canada with their daughter Sarah (c1874) in about 74 or 75.

Sarah Jane Darwen c1849, married Henry Eayres 13/12/1868, it was her family who kept in contact with the family of Thomas, then in Canada.

John Darwen c1856, was living with his mother in the 1871 and 1881 census, we believe John married Ruth Johnson in 1886, John died 3/02/1940, he also kept in touch with the Eayres family.

Norman there are 3 Thomad Darwens born in Lancashire about 1844/45/46, one is at Lancaster, Dec Qtr 1844, one is at Bolton Mar Qtr 1845, and the other at Wigan, Mar Qtr 1846, I can only assume you have the wrong Thomas.

However if you still requre more information please contact me at "winstonee@bigpond.com" and I will see what I can do. Incidentally I live in Australia and have a great deal of info on James c1833 and his ancestors.

Regards Eric

Eric
Thanks for your email although I was surprised at your reply!
The Thomas Darwen I have researched was born 1845 at great Bolton - his parents being James & Elizabeth Porter (who later married Edward Beaumont).
He married Mary Ann Nicholson (formerly Hulme - confirmed on a Birth Certificate for their son James in 1887)) also of Great Bolton and she had a younger sister called Elizabeth, who I presumed married James (Jas).
I am still on the wrong track?
Norman

Norman,
The Thomas Darwen, brother of James Darwen, emigrated to Canada, in either 1874 or 75, we have correspondence from the family dated 1922 from Brantford, Ontario. Therefore I do not feel that your Thomas is not the same one that we have in our family records.

Eric

My wife's maiden name is also Darwin and she is a decendant of Thomas Darwen c1845, born Great Bolton and died Nettlesworth, Co Durham in 1918. His brother was James (Jas) Darwen born 1835

Thomas married Mary Ann Nicholson (formerley Hulme)and had a number of children. James (youngest) was her GG grandfather. James had 9 children including my f-in-law James Henry b.1915 d. 1988. Only 1 survivor in that line is George. (ex professional footballer)

Somewhere along the line the name changed from Darwen to Darwin!

I would be grateful to receive any information you have re above.

Norman Walker

Also looking for his siblings.

John Worden died: 24 Feb 1845 in Wappinger Falls, Dutchess, New York.

Married Margaret ______ (1784–1830)

Children:
Elizabeth Worden
Mary Ann Worden
Euclid Worden 1808–
Precilla Worden 1809–
John Worden 1812–
Robert A Worden 1816–
Margaret Worden 1818–
Thomas Worden 1821–
Walter Worden 1825–

The family is in Fishkill, Dutchess, New York by the year 1840 (Source Citation: Year: 1840; Census Place: , Dutchess, New York; Roll: 278; Page: 36). Looking for any information regarding ancestors or descendants of this family.

Hi Ken,

Thankyou so much for the information, I have got most of the information from Edward and Jane down. I would like any further back information that you may have on the Adcroft family. I have hit a brick wall with Edward Darwens parents. John Darwen Gamekeeper born c1795 in Wigan Lancashire. He married Mary Bamber b 21/2/1796 m 4/9/1815. I have Mary's parents information, but the Darwens are my direct line. We are descendents through the following line. John (1795) Edward (1828) John(1850) Jason (1875) George (1913) George (1937) Anthony (1969) my husband. I look forward to hearing from you with any further information that you may have.

Thanks
Heaps
Belinda

His mother in Maryland. I am trying to connect him with a family. Can anyone Help. Thank you for your time Darlene

They had 1 daughter together Margaret abt. 1855 prob. earlier. I have Richmond Darwin in Jackson Co., Tenn in 1820, Morgan Co., Alabama 1830, Randolph Co. IL from 1834-1846, then in Louisiana census with his youngest daughter Elizibeth in 1850, then in the 1860 Jackson Co. census with Mary (Polly) Stafford Butler Anderson Darwin and daughter Margaret, 1870 Census and the 1880 census Butlers Landing, Jackson, Tenn.. I am looking for Richmond's 1st wife, Mary (Polly) had to have been his 2nd wife being that everything we have found on her has to do with Jackson Co., Tenn. I would like your input on this. I also can't wait to see the pictures you have of the Darwin's. you can contact me at my e-mail dddumbbell@aol.com Can't wait to hear from you.
Darlene Darwin Bell

DARWIN in Illinois 1870

I just discovered the Peter Darwin I have been looking for in the 1870 Census Henderson Co., Illinois with a Peter Briley and his family. The only main Darwin Lines I have found are William Darwin from the South and Ephraim Darwin from the North. Has anyone linked these two family's? The other question is does anyone on this post know which line I should focus on or maybe I shouldn't? Does anyone know the migration trail of the first Darwin's? Does anyone know of a good web site for Darwin's? I do have Peter with his wife Anna migrating from Illinois to Iowa, Nebraska, and finally to Kansas, and on the 1900 Census he says he was from Illinois, his father was from Tenn., and his Mother from Maryland. Any clues that helped you figure this line out? It really for me has been the hardest line to track.
Thank you in advance
Darlene Darwin Bell

I am looking for any info on this man Leonidas A. DARWIN b. abt. 1825 and died 1869. The only info I have is he was married to Nancy H. Richmond and Franklin were b. in Olive Branch, Alexander, Illinois. Peter could have been born there as well. They had good neighbors who were John and Rosanna Coakley and their daughter Mary (Coakley) Harrison. Leonidas was in the Civl War serving for the 77th. He made it back home to his family but died a few years later Feb. 2, 1869. His wife died a few weeks after him Feb. 28, 1869. The children were sent to all different homes. Peter was sent to his mothers brothers home Peter Briley C's. 1870 in Henderson Co.,Illinois, Amanda was with a Thomas Mauden family 1870 C's. Henderson, Illinois, Richmond I have only found so far in the 1880 C's.
