I have looked through my records and do not have any information on Adolph, Margaret (Weisgerber), or Anna Barbara DASSELL. I looked for them in the 1860 Vanderburgh Co., IN Census but was not able to find them.

Here is what I have for the Frederick DASSEL family:

Frederick E. C., b. 1803, Essenrode, Hanover, Germany
Frederica (m.n.u.), b. 1808, ?germanburg/Gannaber
Charles, b. 1837, Hanover, Germany (m. Wilminia May)
Theodore, b. 1839, Germany
Alexander C., b. 1841, Issenbullel, Hanover, Germany
Louisa, b. 1845, Hanover, Germany
Eliza, b. 1847, Hanover, Germany
Henry A.E., b. 1848, Hanover, Germany (m.Sarah Anna Fulling)

I am not sure where that information came from, so you should independantly verify those details.

Per 1900 Vanderburgh Co., IN Census, Henry A. E. immigrated in the year 1850. Since he would have been two at the time, I presume this is when the family immigrated.

Hope this helps in some way. Good luck with your search.

Jane

Looking for info on Anna Barbara Dassell, born in Evansville, IN in 1859; married William Rule in 1881, died around 1904 along with her husband, in Memphis TN of yellow fever. Am looking for any siblings, or any other close relatives; her father was Adoph Dassell of Germany, Mother was Margaret Weisgerber also of Germany, emigrated here? My understanding is that Adolph was possibly related to Frederic......Any info please e-mail me fiona3637@aol.com

Hi Donna,

I am interested in comparing notes with you. My husband's ggg-gp were Friedrick and Frederica DASSEL, through their son Henry and Sarah Anna (Fulling). I have an old chart (names only, no birth/death/marriage dates, nothing to indicate when or by whom it was created) titled
'Descendants of Clamer FULLING and 3rd wife Elnora TIEMAN' for which I am trying to verify the details. The chart shows 5 children for Clamer and Elnora: Casper (M1, Elizabeth Koch; M2, Mary Kramer), Elizabeth, Henry & Anna [twins] (Anna m. Henry DASSEL), Henry (m. Caroline THENE). The first Henry is identified as deceased at the time the chart was done, as was Elizabeth. But, here is the puzzling part. I have Anna's birthdate as 5 Mar 1849 - b. Indiana, parents b. Prussia. So, if the first Henry was her twin that would be his birthdate. I have the second Henry's birthdate as Dec. 1843 - b. Germany. Henry, b. 1843 was alive in 1849 so it's unlikely there were two Henry's in this family.

I found Clamer (Clomer FELINK) in the 1850, Johnson Twp., Gibson Co., IN Census:
Clomer Felink, 52, Germany
Marlano, 40, Germany
Mary, 14, Germany
Frederick, 12, Germany
Henry, 7, Indiana
Melissa, 5, Indiana
Marlano, 1 Indiana

I found Clamer (I think) in 1860 GibCo, Johnson
Clemon Filling, 60, Germany
Anora, 50, Germany
Fred, 18, Germany
Henry, 14, Germany

I can find none of these people in 1870. Looked in Gibson, Vanderburgh, and Warrick.

My first quandry is the fact that there appears to be no twins in the 1850 Census and no Sarah Anna, although I suppose Anna could be a nickname for Marlano. My next puzzlement is where are Melissa and Marlano-?Anna in 1860. Mary probably married. Melissa would be a little young to be married but it's not impossible, or she may have died. But, if Marlano is Anna, then we know she was alive since she married Henry Dassel, probably around 1870.

Lastly, I found this obituary for Mary Kramer Fulling which indicates to me that Kramer may have been her married name. Her surviving sons have the Kramer surname.

http://browning.evpl.org/

Do you have parents for the Mary Kramer that married ?Casper Fulling? (Gibson Co. IN Marriages: Book 9, Page 218: Casper Fuelling - Mary Kramer, 2 Sep 1897)

Hope to hear from anyone who has information about these families.

Jane Gibbs Wheaton

Hi, Donna,
My gr gr grandfather, Frederick and Rebecca were married in Gibson County, Indiana. Their daughter was born in Gibson County, Indiana. I am sure Frederick Dassel was born in Gibson County. Frederick and Rebecca's children were all born in Gibson County. Rachel, I don't have any information on her. She was one of twelve children, I don't have any information on. All I know she was married to a Frederick Dassel.
Edith

Hello Edith. So good to hear from someone else who is working on the Dassel family! My Frederich was only married once as far as I know. Sorry, but I am not able to place your Rachel in my family files. I did ask my mother (Frederich and Fredericka Dassel were her great grandparents) if she recalled a Bruner family related to her Dassel's and she said that she didn't. I do remember looking into the Dassel-Bruner connection quite a while back but couldn't find any relationship for my Dassel's. However, it is pretty unlikely that there wouldn't be some kind of relationship because my Dassel family definitely has Gibson County connections. Some of the other family names in my Dassel line are SCHORNHORST, FULLING, KRAMER AND SANDER--all Gibson County families. I would be glad to share any information that I have that might fit with your family. Just let me know if you see any possibilities and I will let you know if I find anything. Look forward to hearing from you again. Donna
