My Date Genealogy

I. THOMAS DATE Born perhaps in England, died in quarantine in New York on February 20, 1816 at age 54. He married Deborah Beebe, who died August 20, 1846 at the age of 76 (so she was born sometime in 1769-1771) and they lived in Lyme, CT.

II. DAVID BEEBE DATE SR. Born ______ and married Mary Sedley Hughes, daughter of John Gordon Hughes, on January 13, 1846 as recorded by Lyme Vital Records. Mary was born March 19, 1825 and died sometime in October of 1873 and David died January 23, 1859.

III. DAVID BEEBE DATE JR. Born November 19, 1846, he married Emily Elizabeth Hyde, the daughter of Josepph Isham Hyde and Elizabeth Emeline Gager of Franklin, CT, on January 1, 1873. Emily was born May 15, 1852 and died at the age of 92 on February 21, 1940, and David died October 17, 1909 at 26 (E or W) 128th Street in New York City and is buried in Cypress Hills National Cemetary, No. 6773.

IV. FRANK ISHAM DATE Born September 9, 1873 in Franklin, CT and married Rose Elizabeth Armstrong the daughter of Ashbel Armstrong and Sarah Fowler of Lebanon, CT, on June 17, 1903 in Franklin, CT. Rosie died May 7, 1938 in Norwich, CT at Backus Hospital and Frank died July 6, 1950 at the farm in Franklin, CT.
1. Isham, died very young.
2. Edith Saxton, b. 16-Feb-1906, m. 22-May-1924, George Frederick Fairbanks (b.27-Sep-1904 Framingham, MA, d. 22-Oct-1972, Baltic, CT)
3. Florence, never married, no children.
4. Elizabeth, never married, no children.
5. Howard, never married, no children.


From CT State Library records:

1810 Census has Thomas Date living in Lyme at age 45 presumably with his wife (2 person household.) Simple arithmetic puts his birth around 1765.

1816 Lyme Vital Records record Thomas’ death on 20 Feb. 1816.

1846 Lyme Vital Records record marriage of David B Date to Mary Hughes 2d Jan 13.

1850 Census has David B. Date living in Lyme at age 39 with his wife and children (4 person household.) Census lists Ellen A. (age 1) David B Jr. (age 3) and Mary (age 25) as the household.

1861 Lyme court documents list Date minor children as David B, Ellen A, Frederick W, and Hiram H in a proceeding.

1873 Franklin First Congregational Church records memorialize David B Date marrying Emily E Hyde on 1 Jan., and further records them at various times as “in profession” for the church.

CT Military Records show David B Date in Co. K, 5th CT in the Civil War.
