While a number of little boys at Hugo were pulling a rope attached to a derrick it toppled over and the end of a long pole struck Paul Daugherty, a six year old boy, sitting on a rock pile a few feet away, on the top of the head, crushing his skull. He died within thirty minutes after the accident.
