Surnames: Dout/Daut
I'm looking for any information on a George Daut/Dout who lived in Northampton County, PA, between 1794 and 1856. He lived in Plainfield Township and possibly Easton, PA. He was a grandson of Heinrich/Henry Engel, who is my 5th great grandfather, and was specifically named in Henry's Will. His name also appeared on an early census, right under Henry's name. Recently I found his headstone at the small, old German cemetery in Plainfield Twp., across from St. Peter's Church there. (His grandfather Henry Engel is also buried there). George's DOB and DOD are on the headstone, and the spelling is DAUT.

Henry Engel had two sons, George and Christopher whose surnames were also Engel, and a daughter Susanna who married John Adam Hecker. Was George Daut perhaps adopted, or, who were his parents? I just can't find anything else on him that fits with what I already have in my records. You may contact me directly at spwrc@suddenlink.net

Thank you,
Carol Lee, Texas
