Was thrilled to hear from you. My name is Joy Griggs-Lake Charles, La. I am reseaching the line from my aunt -Bessie Villemarette Juneau. I am related from the Juneau side- my uncle is Fred Juneau of Marksville/Mansura. My grandparents lived on the old Hwy 1 between the 2 cities and as a child visiting I attended mass in Mansura at St. Pauls. My ancestors are buried at St. Pauls -- that ole cemetery on Hwy 1. My line is Juneau, Roy, Lemoine, Rabalais, Couvillion, Boftz, Bordelon, Gremillion, etc.
For fun I began on my aunt's line--Villemarette. No surprise she and my uncle are related. As you know anyone who stayed in Avoyelles is related. I AM STUMPED-- so if you can help---THANKS SO MUCH_- Bessie's parents are:
1. Clemile Villemarette b. 1898 son of Emile Villemarette b. 1862 and Clothide Dauzat died 1947. Emile is the son of Francois Villemarette born 1818 in France and married 1848 in Avoyelles to Azelia (Zelia) Guillory b. 1835. I can trace this Guillory line. My problem is Clothide Dauzat. No birth date and no parents. Who are her parents?????
2. Clemile was married to Duttie Gaspard b. 1905 and died April 20, 1993 ( Social Security list an month as her death- Bessie states April for the death of her mother) My Aunt Bessie states Duttie's father was Ophelia Gaspard. I located in Brides Book of Avoyelles 1881-1899 three marriages as follows: Rosalie Dubroc married Orphillia Gaspard 1887, Marie Brouillette married Ophelia Gaspard 1887, and Julie Laborde married Orphila Gaspard in 1899!!!!!!!Who are the parents of Duttie Gaspard?????? Have in St.Paul's baptism book of 1850-1872, an Orphila son of Octave Gaspard and Clarisse Laborde born Feb 1867. Is this Bessie's grandfather???

I have an additional request-- My great grandmother was Loretta Mayeux. She married Emmett Paul (Paul Aime) Roy in 1886. She has on her headstone- b. 1868 d. 1950. Her death certificate list Bordlonville as site of birth. Also lists father as Mayeaux (ALOT OF HELP) and mother as B.K. She is not in St.Paul's baptism books. (Probably in church record in Bordlonvlle) My uncles (Loretta was their grandmother) state they never visited with her relatives. One of Loretta's brothers owned a gas station in Alexandria. That is all they know about that Mayeux line. HELP! Her death certificate which was signed by her son Abel Roy states city of death as Jefferson--MY UNCLES both disagree stating she died in the home of one of children in Opelousas. HELP!! Who is Loretta Mayeux, who are her parents???? I can trace my lineage times 2 to Pierre Francois Mayeaux and Nicolle Prevost--It would be SSSSSOOOOO sweet to claim this lineage 3 times.
