Abel Jennens Davenport (married Sarah Mullings) 1817-87 England
Hello, my name is Sue Davenport. I am hoping in your research you may have come across some of my people. My grandfather was on his way to New Zealand when he emigrated from England in 1911, but stayed in New York as my grandmother was pregnant, and, he was working. He was Stanley Jennings Davenport - lineage below.
They had booked steerage passage on the Titanic; but the infant daughter died at 10 days old so instead of waiting (they had booked ahead to give her a chance to be a bit older for the hard trip) they gave their tickets away, and came earlier on the Majestic with my 4-year old uncle. Leonard Stanley Davenport. My father Ernest James Davenport, was born in New York.
I am having great difficulty finding information on my lineage any further back than William Davenport - from Clerkenwell, London, , England
Born: 7 Nov 1791
Death: 24 Sep 1887
William married Mary Jennens, born 1875
They had children: Abel Jennens Davenport (my ancestor), Thomas J., William and Mary Jennens Davenport.
