Someone from GA sent me the information for the 1860 census of Clayton Co. showing J.C DEPENPORT 27 M Laborer GA
S.E. 20 F GA
J.H. 6 M GA
L.H. 4 F GA
J. O. 2 GA
She said she found nothing on the 1870 census. Did you find the census info in Clayton Co for that year? I couldn' t find it on ancestry.com
According to my notes my Oscar and some of his brothers moved on to Cullman Co AL by 1885. Oscar even remarries to a Hattie Granada that year. We figured Sophronia died after having Mattie Pearl in 1882. There are some grave sites that may be for the brothers. They use initials instead of full given names. Do you have full given names for everyone? My Oscar was James Oscar and Henry was John Henry. I didn't know Ollie was Sarah. I do see where John Henry was next door to John and Sarah in the 1880 census and Oscar and "Saphrona" were in the same district. Hattie Bird wasn't born until Aug and the census was taken in June.
Sarah Brown's mother was Mary "Dicey" Waldrop, as I said. Their children were: James Holcomb Brown b 1832, William J. Brown b 1824, Robert, Flem, Joshua M., Tillman, Joseph E., Carolyn, Martha, Sarah b 1834, Kitty, Ann. All born in Henry Co GA. Rowland died in Haralson Co GA 1866 and Dicey died there in 1884. Her parents were James Waldrop b 1768 Pittsylvania Co VA - 3 Dec 1846 Fayette Co., GA and Mary Morrison b 11 July 1761VA - 1850 GA. Their children were: Nancy, Charity, Violet, Bellene, Dicey, Margaret Susannah, John, and David S. The parents of James were James Waldrop SR 1720-1772 and Sarah Jinkins. I will have to check on an update of his parents. I have Michael Waldrop JR but I think there was some controversy over that. I will update when I find out.
