Hello, Robert,
Good to hear from you and your possible interest in DNA.
Through a test you can establish the makers for your male
line from your father to his father back in time. Since my
brother had his tests done several years ago we have found
that his male line has unique markers for men of United Kingdom descent.
Since you descend from the W.R.Davie line you could help determine his DNA line in the U.S.and in England.
Many years ago my father was visited in San Francisco by a representative of the
University of North Carolina to determine whether our Davie line was related to W.R.'s Davie family. Since my family's earliest provable ancestor was born in 1783 in Halifax, Nova Scotia,a paper connection was not made in the 1930s. However, if you are interested in testing with DNA,we just might find the two families are related. We have always
wondered.
DNA is a fascinating and confusing new field, but worth the effort. I recommend Family Tree DNA for its careful testing and the support given to customers to interpret test results.
I would be happy to answer any questions from you or others
on this Board.
Regards,
Wren
