Hello Fuil na nDaimhineach: Thanks for responding to my posts with your very interesting Davin story. Please do send along the long version to my email. I'd love to read it. I'd say that if your Patrick Davin was born in Clifden in 1830 it's very likely his family lived along the lower Sky Road in either Beleek or Fahy. The 1855 Griffiths Valuation shows that 5 of the 21 families living in Fahy were Davins and I know that many Davin families lived along the Sky Road until 1911 when there was only one family left. I'd say your best chance of finding out where they lived in Clifden would be to check the Galway West Family History Society web site
www.galwaywest.brsgenealogy.com for the births of Patrick's two oldest children who were born in Clifden I think. I couldn't find a Patrick Davin marrying in Clifden or anywhere in Galway in 1859 or 1860 on these records though. It's 5 euro a record but you can narrow it down using the childrens' names, year of birth, records checked (probably Clifden RC) and father's name (Patrick's name of course). I've found these records can be hit or miss so it doesn't mean they weren't born there if you can't find them. Finally my Davin relatives (my grandfather's first cousins) didn't come to Pittsburgh until around 1900 but I know there were non-davin relatives there when they came to the US. I'd love to know how you make out so keep in touch. Good Luck. Bill Burke PS: Do you really live in Donegal and I know Fuil means blood and Daimhin means Davin in Irish but what does your user name mean.
