In 1859 Michael Davin of New Salem Virginia posted a message in the Boston Pilot newspaper looking to contact his brother Patrick Davin in Iowa. These Davin brothers were from Bayleek on the Sky Road near Clifden Ireland. They are almost certainly related to my Davin ancestors who lived on this same stretch of road. I have been unable to find any trace of either Michael or Patrick in Virginia or Iowa. I did find a Michael Davin in Allegheny PA age 62 with four children who were all born in Virginia around the time the message was posted. The 1880 census shows Michael's children as Mary (26), Katie (23) Thomas (21) and Michael (18). I suspect this is the Michael Davin I am looking for since many of my Davins from Clifden ended up living near Pittsburgh. Any information about MIchael or Patrick Davin or their descendants would greatly appreciated.
