Classification: Query
Surnames: davis, davison, davidson
I am a Davison, as was my father, and his father, and his father's father, etc. back to my 3rd great grandfather, George, who went by the name Davison, at least after he married in Ohio in 1821 and until he died in 1882 in Illinois.
I am not so sure about George's father, Reese (or Rees or Reece). Reese may have gone by the surname Davis and I am exploring this possibility. If I am correct then Reese married in VA after the Revolutionary War period and lived with his family until about 1814 in such places as Fayette Co., PA and Wayne Co., OH. I have no clue where Reese came from: possibly the New England states, or NC, or even directly from Wales.
Can anyone help me out here?
Thank you.
Richard Davison
