My Davison family came out of slavery with Letticia Davison being the mother, born in Maryland, and Caleb, Thomas and James, born in Virginia, being her sons. By the Davison manumission of 1852, Marion County Virginia, Caleb and James were of unmixed African blood and James was a halfblood. This manumission was granted by Benjamin J. Brice, of Fairmont, West Virginia, and is on file in the Marion County West Virginia courthouse. My Davison family appears in the 1860 Greene County, Pennsylvania census. Caleb married Phoebe Wilson, d. of Nancy Hamilton and Jerry Wilson of Maryland. Thomas married Mary Alfeus (Alpheus). James married Amanda Parker. Thomas Davison is my line with his son, George Albert Davison marrying Sarah Catherine Bice.
Any African American Davison's out there?
