Thanks, I will see if I can find anything out with those names and dates. I have him married to an Elizabeth Landers but who knows, he seems to be very elusive. I only have his death date from a land record for service in the War of 1812 in Canada. That's all I know about him. There seems to be a few John Davison's in that area

I'm wondering if you would share sources on your research on Alexander being b. c1678 in Somerset Co., MD? I recently have another new DNA match and we need to learn more about him. I would be very curious about any documentation that led you to this "good" guesswork. I have collected various land documents that suggest "my" Samuel (1713-1753) is his son and would like to compare notes and perhaps confirm it.

Thanks, Sandy

I have a John Davison b. 4-21-1772 in Pomfret, CT to Joseph Davison & Lydia Goodell. His wife was Elizabeth Williams. They married in Brooklyn, CT on 3-12-1798. I don't have any further info as to children or death as he appeared to disappear from New England after his marriage. I have info on his grandparents and siblings if you think this might be the correct John. He was of Scottish descent through his G-G-grandfather Daniel Davison (wife, Margaret Low).

Michele

Hi Ren

I noticed Walter's death record at the state library while hunting Davisons in Victoria, and made a note because his second name was recorded as 'Clements'.

I have a bunch of Davison's descended from Thomas Davison and Margaret McClement in Warrnambool, and McClement is often mispelled as Clement or Clements, so I was wondering if they were connected.

hope to hear from you soon :) Damien

Early Davison families in Tyre & Seneca Falls, Seneca County

I have a current interest in three different and possibly related Davison families that lived in the Tyre/Seneca Falls, Seneca County area between, say, 1800 and 1860 before relocating to Allegan County, Michigan. I have gleaned what I could from the federal census records, the more reliable parts of familysearch.org and the increasing number of Michigan records. My specific interest is in Squire Davison (wife Elizabeth Brown), Henry Whitman Davison (wife Demarias Lay or Leigh), and Ira Davison (wife Julia Rood). Undocumented IGI entries give William Davison and Mary unknown as the parents of Squire and Henry Whitman Davison but is silent on Ira--and there's some evidence that he might be a cousin or stepbrother rather than a brother (his mother is supposed to have died young and he was born circa 1808, while Squire and Henry Whitman were both born circa 1822). Any thoughts or pointers on what information might be available would be appreciated.

Dear Ren, As you may know by now, I am a pedant. Should you not have specified Ann's place of death as 'Heidelberg, district of Melbourne, Australia', so that anyone who finds this information will not go on a wild goose chase to Germany, U.S.A. (Kentucky and Mississippi) or South Africa (Western Cape or Johannesburg area) which all have a place named Heidelberg? Perhaps I should say that I am from London, England, as there is one place of that name in Canada, and there are no less than five in the U.S.A.! Michael

Dear Ren, As you will learn from this message, I have now managed to find some, at least,of the information you posted on ancestry. May I point out that your calculation of Joseph's approximate year of birth is ten years off the mark? The ship' manifest, dated 1849, gives his age as 32. When I went to school 1849 minus 32 equals 1817!
Best wishes, Michael

Solomon is my husband's 2nd great grandfather by Solomon's third wife, Eliza Jane Seibert. He married Eliza Jane on June 19, 1862 in Montgomery County, Ohio.

Obit reads: Davidson, Solomon, oldest of 9 children, 8 boys and a girl, all preceded except youngest, Margaret C. Civil OVI vet. Married 3 times, having son by 2nd wife and 3 boys and 4 girls by last wife. One girl died in infancy. Leaves wife, sister, children. Died Aug. 11, 1911. Buried Fredrick, Montgomery Co. OH (Lewisburg Leader) Aug. 17, 1911 Hoerner funeral home in Charge if burial. F-4

Our family does not know much about Elizabeth Tenney and I would appriciate any information you may have on her and her children by Solomon. I do have a picture of Elizabeth wife of Jacob Sinks tombstone in Monroe Cemetery, Ohio...around Vandalia, Ohio on a back road. She died Feb. 9, 1970. If you are interested I can send it through email.

I also have Solomon's pension papers that state Elizabeth Jacobs Davidson died about 1853 of consumption. Her maiden name was Fidler.

They were not married long and there was a Garret born but I can not find anymore info. I have found where an Elizabeth Fidler married a Howard Munsell on August 28, 1851 in Miami County, Ohio but I am just not sure about her information I am finding. The pieces just don't seem to fit. Garret was born around 1852 and she died about 1853. So who Garret's father is and what happened to him are a mystery.

I look forward to hearing from you and sharing any insite you may have. Let me know if you want any information I may have on Solomon.

Rachel Davidson

I have a very old typewritten transcript that is the only copy of this will to be found.
DAVIDSON / Davison -Rockbridge, VA > Lancaster & Fayette, PA

Tracking this line & wanted to post an update for anyone:
Joseph Davidson (1781-1822) m. 1805 Jinny WILSON

Possible Brother: John Davidson (1778-1855 Madison Co., OH)
Possible Father...William Davidson (1750 Cumberland, PA -1824 Rockbridge, VA)
Possible Grandfather...John Davidson (c1711 Ireland?-1755 Cumberland, PA)
Possible GR Grandfather...Alexander Davidson (c1678-1739) m. Isabel
Possible Uncle...Samuel Davidson (c1713-1753 Lancaster, PA)

However, along this path with DNA testing...I'm also tracking the line of the Uncle...Samuel (c1713-1753) m. Martha and he dies in Lancaster Co., PA but not before buying land in 1741 (High Park) and 1742 (Emory's Endeavor) and 1752 (Davidson's Fancy)...then in Will of 1753 leaving it to son John, who dies early and so it all goes to sole surviving son, Moses (c1740-1822). He sells all land in MD 1773-1776 and starts buying land in Lancaster Co. and then Fayette Co., PA.

I believe this Moses could be the grandfather to my Moses (1804-1880). The grandfather has only 1 son, Samuel (born c1774) and I'm working with a descendant down one of the daughters. Unfortunately ...we don't have alternative male descendants to get DNA tested...unless I find one from this Samuel (born c1774) only son to Moses (c1740-1822).

However, all roads lead back to linking these 2 brothers...John & Samuel...and we've got great documentation about John's grandson, Joseph, out of Rockbridge & Wythe Counties.

If any of these names, dates, locations ring bells...email me! sandymento@comcast.net

Flatboat trip from PA down the Ohio River abt 1846

I'm tracking a family out of the Redstone, Fayette Co., PA area. They left after their daughter was born in May 1845 and showed up in Indiana in July 1847 for the birth of their son. A descendant got a story from her grandfather that our Moses Davison (1804-1880) took his wife (Elizabeth Moss) & 9 children on a flatboat down the Ohio River and into Indiana.

We've currently matched DNA to a Davison line out of Bullitt Co., KY and so we do believe that this story is true.

I would appreciate hearing from any/all Davison & Davidson researchers to see if we can't pinpoint where along the trip we lost the father of Moses. He is possibly Samuel, born c1774 and he sold land in 1825 (Fayette Co., PA) with his wife Mary...and was alive on the census in PA in 1830 for Washington Co., PA.

Please touch base with me to compare data. Thank you. Sandymento@comcast.net

Sorry not to have replied sooner. I have been rsearching other Northumbrian relatives who lived around the port of Blyth. I have not come across an Andrew Davison in my own research.

I expect you have used Google Map to trace Low Morallee which comes up as a farm near Simonburn which is just to the north of Hexham. I notice that there is a Swinburn just 5 miles to the East of Simonburn. I cannot answer about local dialects - all my Geordie ancestors are now dead. My comment is that Simonbourne and Sembourne may well be indistinguishable when handwritten.

My Northumberland relatives are all nearer the coast at places like Earsdon, Bedlington, Seaton Delaval; and Blyth.

Good luck with your research,

Chris
Hi, looking for any info on a William Davison possibly from Tynemouth. Married a Jane Wallace. Their son James was my grandfather. Very new to all this and have hit a brick wall!
James was born in 1920 and had a lot of siblings. Most of his immediate family have passed and I'm finding great difficulty gathering any info.

George Davison m Ida Watson, Kent Co, MI, 1890 -- where after that?

I'm trying to find where George W. Davison (son of Squire Davison and Elizabeth Brown) went after he was divorced by his first wife, Hannah Maria O'Niel and married Ida Watson in Kent County, Michigan in 1890. I haven't found a trace of them after that-- and, although his granddaughter Esther Keneipp Horn Stone had a death date of 1938 in her notebook for George, the state of Michigan has no record of his death in that state 1937-1939. I've looked fairly diligently and broadly in the census (via all digital indexed sources, not original microfilm) with no luck for 1900-1930. Any information would be welcome.
