Heyla all. I'm searching for informatin about Patrick and Catherine Davitt.
Their children: Michael, John, Sarah and Patrick emigrated to Philadelphia in 1851. They arrived August 13, 1851 on the Lord Gough. Michael, John and Sarah were listed as Devitt, while their brother Patrick was listed as Davitt. The family uses the DAVITT spelling currently.
Patrick and Michael settled in Scranton and started families. Sarah apparently married a Garvey and eventually or from the beginning settled in Philadelphia. The theory is that John married a Barbara Moran? and by some woman had a son Michael. He died before 1900, but I'm not sure where or precisely when. Barbara is buried near the family and is a relative, but noone is quite sure how.
On Patrick and Michael's marriage applications the parents are listed as Patrick and Catherine. I'm not sure if they came over at a different time or died in Ireland. I don't know if any other sibs were in the picture, either. Michael was 21/22 according to the ships record and Patrick 8.
If any of these tidbits are familiar, please let me know.
